I keep getting error message wrong cartridge on my

Try cleaning the printhead and the area inside the print where the print head connects. Use folded tissue soaked in a bit f methylated spirit. If this still doesn't work, then it most certain that the cartridges have become incompatible and have to be replaced. Cartridges becoming incompatible is usual, sometimes resulting from expiration. If replaced with original cartridges the issue should be resolved

Good luck & God bless!

My canon Pixma MP 780

There is ink absorbers located at both ends of the printerwhere the ink head move.
To dry the ink absorber, power up the printer and open the cover so the inkcartridges and print head will move to the middle of the printer.
Then take several sheets of absorbent tissue, fold it into a pad and place itinside the printer over the ink absorber on the far left hand side of theprinter to soak up the excess ink. You may need to change the absorbent tissuea few times. Then repeat the same procedure on the right hand ink absorber.
Closethe lid and the printer should now function normally.

My printer says that the waste ink is near

This is Canon's way of getting you to take the printer to a service center or purchase another one. There is no escaping it, and the printer will likely disable itself after awhile.

Printer says"waste ink near full"

The waste ink is a set of sponges inside the ink jet that absorb ink during the printhead cleaning.
For now you can keep printing by pressing and holding the printer's On/Off button for one second. Then wait 10 seconds and press the On/Off button again. Wait until the printer finishes cycling before trying to print again. See Canon's support page for details: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/multipass_series/multipass_mp700#ServiceAndSupport . Search for Waste Ink Full.

When the waste ink tank is full, then you will not be able to print until the unit is serviced. Canon will service this for you. (Free except for shipping if the printer is under warranty, standard $$ otherwise) However under normal use, the waste ink full counter should be reached its limit near the expected end of life of the printer. Additional failures may occur soon.

This is a messy job and may be a lot more work than you want to do. Have plenty of newspaper to absorb the ink if you try this. You need to disassemble the printer to reach them. One set is under the area where the printhead sits when the printer is idle. The other is further down in the center. You will need to remove a few small screws to access the bottom set. Once you get them out, blot off most of the ink and then run under water until the ink is completely out of the pads. Blot the areas where the pads sit of the excess ink as well. Then dry the pads (you can use a blow dryer to speed this step). Then reassemble the printer. (Alternatively, order replacement pads from Canon)
See http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/45693 for additional comments from others who have tried this.

Next you can reset the counter. (Do not do this reset before cleaning or replacing the ink pads; waste ink will smear everywhere.)

Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter
1) Enter SERVICE MODE.---
By pressing [Menu] then [Copy] then [#]
2) Select TEST MODE. (using + or - keys)
3) Press the [OK] key.
3) Press the [8] key. (TEST MODE)
4) Press the [3] key.
5) Press the [0] key. (INK COUNT).
6) Press the [OK] key.
7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key
9) Press the [ON/OFF]

I hope this helps.

Error message wrong cartridge

its not a true fix but I had the same issue. I turned off printer and slightly moved the paper thickness lever over a few inches. I turned it back on and the cartridge error was off. I do get a pop up from my printer program on the computer every time I initiate a print job asking to correct the lever, I click OK and it prints. I know its aRube Goldberg fix but I need this printer every day for work and for now it works.

Every thing works exept wont put ink on paper

okay, Craig, have you attempted to print a test page from your printer? If you have, and it didn't work, it might be your ink. I used to work for Staples, and sometimes the ink was old and dried out. Also, refurbished ink cartridges frequently do not work as well as originals. How long has it been since you have not been able to print?

Canon MP700 error message 'cartridge

Hello,

Among the most common problems with any make of printer are paper jams. A printer will jam for any number of reasons: It’s dirty, the wrong paper type is being used, or the rollers on the printer that feed the paper through its pathway are worn down. While cleaning the printer periodically and using the correct paper type are easy fixes.

Take care.
