Change os on a think pad r32

Seems you are attempting an upgrade install. Try to do an erase install / Format Install, most probably it will pick up the drivers on its own if not you can search for the drivers on http://www.driversforfree.com/omn_ofm_omd/ibm/thinkpad/r32/drivers.aspx

How to connect external monitor in ibm type 2658

Most laptops have a blue external 15pin video connector. Connect an external monitor's video cable to this port, then power up the external monitor first then boot up the ThinkPad, the video information will automatically divert to the external monitor first.
You can toggle/cycle the laptop and external monitor so they display on both the laptop and external monitor or the laptop LCD screen or external monitor by pressing the blue Fn key and then the F7 key several times.

Laptop turns on, goes to

Your installation of Windows is most probably corrupted. Try pressing and holding the F8 button on your keyboard when the 'IBM THINKPAD" screen disappears. That should bring you to a Windows menu where you can select various modes. Select Safe Mode and press enter. If it boots, then you know that something's wrong with Windows and not the notebook itself. What have you installed prior to this problem? Maybe you should try uninstalling it while in safe mode, and then try starting up Windows normally again.

If your windows doesn't start anyway, you should get some live OS (OS that can boot from CD) like Ubuntu or Puppy Linux, so you can save the data from C: partition (burn it or copy it elsewhere) and then reinstall your copy of Windows XP.

Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller Lenovo

The same model ThinkPadcan have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless youknow exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download allthe drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download thedrivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a recordof which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files arelocated on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEBsite - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers foryour model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true

Power surge on hub port,

One of the devices attached to the USB needs more power than what the USB can deliver so it shuts it down. Either that device needs an external power source or it's defective.
If nothing is plugged in the USB sockets then the defect is internal - a short on the motherboard. You will need to take it to a repair shop to see if the short can be fixed, otherwise you will have to replace the entire motherboard.
