I'm sorry to hear of your problems, but the laws in my country would be different to those in your country and I can only suggest what cause of action you could take.
You maybe be entitled to long service benefits and redundacy payments.
You have certain legal rights and depending upon which country you reside in I suggest you consult with a lawyer. Pick a law firm that specialized in employment and/or a government agency.

Check in My Computer and be sure the device shows up as a drive letter. If it does not, be sure there is a free drive letter available that it can use. If not, check in Disk Management and assign it a letter.

In fact USB 1.0 dosent require any additional SW in XP environment, its driver is inbuilt in Xp. However USB 2.0 Obviously requires its driver that you can download either from www.microsoft.com or from your motherboard vendor's website.

The blue screen might be because of VIRUS, currupt Windows or driver conflict.

Please uninstall all undesirable drivers, use Windows setup disk to repair your current installation (run setup and select upgrade, not new Installation)

Download USB 3.0 driver and install it.

DANGER I take it you understand that these can kill. Even WEEKS after they have been unplugged. The chassis can be HOT on them too, what is normally considered to be EARTH can be live with thousands of volts. Bleed the capacitor down first, using the right resistors, use rubber gloves, boots and stand on a rubber mat. Keep one hand in your pocket to avoid current going through your heart if you mess up. This is just how I do it since a near miss. Check out precautions yourself, from a reputable source if you still wish to try. Now that I have said that, it may be connections on the inside of the Colourstream interface. Sounds like you have dropped a colour and have another problem that could well be related. ie: two wires touching or shorting.

I am assuming you have checked all of your connections carefully. you could try resetting it by turning everything off at the switch for a few minutes then turning it back on

There are a few solutions for you:

You can download the drivers from the Internet or your os' plug and play should detect it and download it for you.

Search for new hardware in the control panel and have it search for a driver on your computer and on the Internet.

You could also contact the mp3 player's maker for the software. At a minimum you need the brand and model number of the MP3 player, which should be on the unit and box it came in.

You can Google it to find the drivers and contact info of the manufacturer.

Do you have a manufacturer's warranty that is valid?
Did you get a warranty or guaranty on the repair from the manufacturer or service dealer?

If it has the SAME problem -- you should not have to pay for it again. It should be covered by the above.

That is unless you waited too long to report it.

In any event, contact both the manufacturer (re manufacturing defect) and the service dealer (the repair should be warrantied for more than one month).
