Freeplay S360 Need Replacement Battery Pack
I will give my info here and say that I -was- able to replace the battery in my Freeplay S360.
I purchased two of the 2/3 AA rechargable NiCD batteries and soldered them together. Then I rewired it into the radio and voila! It works!
Total cost: about US $4
Total time: about 20 minutes
Now all I need to do is remember to use the thing every month or so, just to keep the battery in good condition.

Hello,
there is no big deal disassembling the radio.
Look for white card board or any white large paper.
Disassemble the radio on the white paper, so that you can see any screw or anything that drops from the radio.
My recommendations would be that you should remove all the screws carefully. Make sure all screws are removed before attempting to take the radio apart. Also, some screw might hiding under the sticker. So make sure all stickers that may be found on the radio are removed.
In summary, handle with care.... As I stated above, there is no big deal taking the radio apart.
Please let me know if you have any precise question concerning this issue.
Regards.
No more self powerd source
I assume that the rechargeable batteries have expired. The trouble is that the batteries are hard-wired into the radio itself. Unscrewing the back and carefully replacing these with similar-rated cells would be possible but difficult. A poor design, which happened to mine too.
No sound from speaker
If the volume is adjusted when the headphones are plugged in I'd be looking at the speaker. It may need replacing. I don't know if the headphones are run from a preamp or attenuated via the audio output IC. If it's run from the preamp then the main output could be kaput. Check the speaker and it's wiring first and go from there.
