Sir the problem of your tv is the convergence to narrow the problem try to adjust first the convergence settings using your original remote go to setting menu then to the convergence setting, you can adjust the red and blue convergence, you should be able to adjust the red and blue left, right and up, down you should align the red and blue to green but if you cannot move them far enough or if you cant move them in any direction the convergence IC is already defective replacing this IC will fix the problem, you will find this convergence IC attach to a large aluminum plate this aluminum plate is the heat sink. It is easy to locate if you remove the back cover of your unit be sure to unplug your TV
ekcnoel_17.jpeg
this is the convergence IC if you remove this try to observe also if there is a cold solder or dry joint because sometimes this cause your convergence to malfunction observe the solder part of the convergence.
ekcnoel_19.jpeg
This is a cold solder or dry joints you can fix this by resoldering using a soldering iron, soldering lead, and desoldering pump but be sure not to connect separated pins it may cause much damage to unit if accidentally solder together. To replace the IC convergence try to check this link http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/product.php?productid=19971&cat=1538&page=1 hope this helps good day and best regards.

I keep having to adjust the convergence for blue.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some images of convergence problems.

How did I correct blue and red lines curved across

This is for if the lines are thin and arc.

You need to turn down the screen voltage for the blue and red CRT. I don't remember if the focus block is in the front or in the back of the tv on this model. Most projections have them in the front.

You could check the back access panel and look for a black box with six knobs as descibed in step 3 below. This is what you are looking for.

follow the steps below if it is located in the front:

1) Remove the front grill
2) There should be access panel you need to remove once you remove the front grill. This is where the screen voltage adjustment is located
3) Look for a small black box with six knobs on it. One row is for "Focus" and one row is for "screen". It will be marked, but probably need a flashlight to see which row it is. There will be a "R", "G" and "B" next to each knob to represent Red, Green Blue respectively.

4) Careful with the access panel removed, you are only inches away from very dangerous voltages.
5) slowly turn the R or B knob counterclockwise until the lines on the screen disappear.
Keep your hands away from everything else and only use one hand near the tv. put the other hand behind your back.

6) Once corrected, replace the panel and put the grill cover back on.

This can be an indcation two things 1: a defective focus/screen block or 2: a defective CRT if the lines are of one color then it is that color CRT. in any event you will need to have a tech work on this, doing this repair yourself can be very dangerous for you and the set.

Tun on tv but in

This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free.

http://www.fixdevice.com/smanuals/file/6252.html
Should you wish to DIY you must have a service manual, I have included the link above, for your convenience.
wanting to have a go and try to repair you set. But PLEASE, start in the right place, otherwise you will simply waste your time and money, You see, you MUST start, in the right place, The power supply, FIRST, as, if, that isn't right, nothing else can be. But you simply cannot do anything without a Service Manual. In this it has everything one needs to repair the set. OK if it is shutting down, after that amount of time, of working and then faulting, then it is most definitely a "Thermal" problem, the way we "Find" problems such as this is "Freeze Spray" you use this on each component that is suspected of being the "Culprit" and you will soon, find that errant component. Now, also not every fault is a Capacitor, I see many, many people that think, that Capacitors are always the "Culprit" and replace them, because someone else had done so and it worked, well that maybe sometimes true, but most Symptoms, can, and do have many, many different "Causes" & also, now while that may be true in a few cases, a faulty Electrolytic Cap, or even, ordinary, Cap goes faulty, this is only a SYMPTOM, something has damaged those caps causing them to "Fail". One MUST always find the root "Cause", otherwise if you just treat, the SYMPTOM, the "Cause" will just make the "Symptom" come back, in short order, as the prime cause still, hasn't been fixed., Now Capacitors hate AC ripple, or Over Voltage. Thats it. Oh.. and Heat, if these Capacitors, are too close to a Heat Source, then thats a prime cause of failure. Resistors, hardly ever go faulty, and if they do, it is generally obvious. However it doesn't hurt to check values with our Multimeter. Remember though resistors are made, with up to 20% tolerance from stated value, as such, are not too critical, unless in Timing circuits etc. Always check, the Values, of resistors, as with any other component, with the power OFF. Now Diodes especially "Zener Diode", are another thing to check, those and ordinary "Signal Diode" should always be suspect. next we have Transistors and IC's. The Transistors MUST ALL be checked to see if they have a good, "Junction" this is done, with our meter set to "Diode Test" and usually are about 0.6 to 0.7. With IC's you must check, voltage levels, or Logic Levels, going in and out, have a look at the circuit diagram, and it will tell you what they should be. It is a good idea to always measure the Power Supply voltages, see if a "Rail" is Low, that will be because some component has gone somewhat or all short circuit, to Earth, now, if the "Rail" is Higher, suspect an "Open Circuit" component, like a Diode, or Transistor. The voltages expressed in the manual are spot on, ANY variation MUST be investigated. I have been doing all this for over 30 years now, and I do indeed wish, we could have a set of "Symptoms" and be ables to say.. "Oh that;s the so-in-so and replace this" however unfortunately this although does happen, most "Symptoms" can have literally tens, of "Causes" all often "Interlinked" One simply has to do a methodical troubleshooting procedure, and always think, "are my Voltages Correct" as this is how, you Fix the problem, by making them so. Keep up the good work

Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television and help

with this type of tv, you can be almost certain that something has gone wrong with the lamp or the cooling system for the lamp. the cost associated with these kinds of fixes are usually more than the unit is worth. The life span on rear projection TV's is not all that good,5-10 years. some last longer. but for most this is a good estimate. this tv has an auto focus feature that might help. also if this TV has a SD slot for upgrades, give it a try as well.
