Picture turns bright red then TV shuts off. the standby light blinks 2 times

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty. Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

My kp-57ws520 standby light blinks 9 times tv does not come on any more it did for a short period of time

I had a similar problem with a sony 60" lcd hdtv. The normal power on light was green. When I had an issue the led would flash about 8 or 9 times. Can't remember exactly. It turned out to be a troubleshooting code. When I researched it, turned out to be the high powered lamp that lights the lcd screen was shot. When this happens you get no picture or sound. It's not a terribly difficult job to replace it yourself. I found a replacement bulb on line by my model number along with instructions on how to replace. You probably get about 4 or 5 years out of a bulb depending on usage. Hope this helps.

Line in screen

There is a lenticular screen and a fresnel lens on those and they are expensive! You can order them for replacement and they are easy to replace. It is probably the Lenticular screen.

Sorry for the duplicate post, but somehow

HDCP is causing the trouble You experience. Try using other video input connection for same set. If it works fine that way, the problem is that the rights protection (HDCP) is acting as "police" to prevent copying or reproduce unauthorized content. If only the HDMI is connected (disconnect all other inputs/outputs) on some sets, could be work fine.

The sound crackles. How can I fix this?

First look to see if same when a DVD etc is played via a rear input. If not then set is not the problem---also if using a box unplug it, wait and plug it back to let it reboot. If these fail to help you have a audio circuit problem that would require a repair.

How do i connect a converter box to my kp51ws520

Two ways to do that:1. if box has only coax in and out, go from the out to the in on the set and turn channel on set to correct one for the box (3 or 4 are the usual ones).2. if box has audio/video outs on rear connect them to a rear audio video connection on rear or set(just match the colors) and select that input on the set to use the box for changing the channels.

Tv works good but picture is not in color or has some color but dark

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone outProjection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then yourconvergence is broken and needs to be repaired. This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem. Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. The power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems. 7859b01.jpge87380c.jpg 69189a5.pngSOLUTION #1What you will need to do is convergence. You can get a repair kit fromTvRepairKits.com . It includes replacement parts, step by step instructions, support, etc.Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is CloudyProjection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images. Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.578ba6c.jpg TV set after fluid change65af323.jpg 69189a5.pngSOLUTIONWhat you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from TvRepairKits.com . It includes replacement coolant, step by step instructions, support, etc.

My tv standby light flashes then when i turn on

There is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance. The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on, if there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, and use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points. Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up; if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault. It can also be related to WEAK ELECTROLYTIC capacitors as the value can reduce in time.

In most cases the standby light might blink with different rapidity to indicate a fault relevant to the processor. It is possible that most of these indicate that there are errors in the processing section. Since there is a possible short or leak in the circuit the output driver section can take in huge current to trip the SMPS or from advice from the micro processor. Remove the power plugs and make sure that high voltage sections are discharged of the potential stored in capacitors. Look for visible signs of leak or of busted capacitors. Look for bulged capacitors or damaged components- burnt or busted. Use a multi-meter to check the continuity or shorting in components, if so detach from circuit and test. If the voltage builds up and the set power ON and then shuts up then the suspected section must be checked in detail.

The processor must have the +5 voltage to the function properly, the +B and secondary voltages also must be checked to infer the fault. Trace with caution and in running through the signal path , circuit trail.
