Some of the reasons that your cassette is not falling into the tray in the correct order.
1. Possible that the loading arms have been jammed, struck and have not returned to base to be parked in the correct slot. If so there is malfunction of the loading arms, the motor drive or the movement of the arms. you will need to check this out only if you are able to remove the tray and check into the mechanism.

2. Possible that the tray is out of alignment, possible that the tray alignment has changed due to damage in the tray support.

3. Possible there are foreign material within/under the tray that is causing the tray from locking down. Please check with good light inside/under the tray.

4. finally make sure that the cassette is good and is not having any stickers or attachments on its sides.

Your local camera shop will sell you a head cleaner. It looks just like a cassette, but it has brushes inside that brush magnetic particles from your camera's record heads.

If you can't find the manual on Canon's website it's probably not a good idea to go elsewhere. Your best bet is to send it in to Canon and have their techs repair it.

there is an data plate with model number and date of manufacture, usually the SN is on that label. look on the bottom side, or where the viewer opens. if all else fails, check the manual.

If you wish to transfer the 8mm to VHS you will need to connect the camera to a VCR VHS recorder.

when you experience such problems you should disconnect the battery back and the charger, wait a few minutes and hold the power button down for a moment to drain out any remaining power in the unit. Re attach the battery and if needed connect it to the charger, the unit should turn on, if not, there is a internal hardware problem, in order to get it fixed you will have to find a local camcorder repairer, as I feel its too complex for us to attempt to fix over the internet. And since the electronic parts are so small inside the camcorder all you could really do is replace a board, your going to need professional assistance in repairing the camera.

The serial number for the Canon Vixia HFR11 is located on the battery compartment door. It is 12 numeric digits and NO letters. I believe you were on the right track with your first try, but you should leave off the "YG" when entering the serial number.

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

No you can't do so you need to buy a brand new camcorder.
