If the carriage doesn't move at all, the latch may have gotten stuck. If you unplug the printer, wait a few seconds, plug it in and power on, it should move the carriage back and forth. If it moves at all, quickly unplug it, while it is unlocked.Now, you can clean around the parked position, and lube the travel shaft (sewing machine oil is good. Any similar light oil is ok).If this doesn't help, check that the optical tape behind the carriage is clean, there are sensors to measure carriage position, and if the tape gets dirty, they won't work right. Do not use solvents there, you can remove the marks and make your printer into a paper weight.

Hi, I solved this issue when this happened to my Epson Stylus NX515. I had this issue, after I experienced a paper jam. Removed the paper, for sure, then I turned Off/On the printer, but didn't help. It didn't allow me to reset the settings, either. However, I manually moved the ink cartridge container from right to left, since that area is always hidden by the cartridge container. Bingo. I found a small object there, preventing the cartridge container to go back to the original location when the printer initializes when it turned on.

If the printer in on and waiting for a print job but the computer says it's off line that means it's not communicating with the printer. Check the cable to make sure it's fully seated on both ends. If everything looks OK then try another cable.

To tell you honestly this is unknown error to all user of this type of printer. Only epson depot department can resolved this issue. I may suggest to try to reset the printer back to factory default just since i believe this problem just happened recently. Please follow steps below. If same thing will happen then you need to contact Epson support and have the printer serviced.

To reset all of your control panel settings to their default settings, press the Setup button, select Restore Default Settings, and press OK. Then select Init All Settings and press OK again.

You may need to replace the inkpad, it is located under the cardrige park. Also clean the rubber sqeegee blade.
Wear cloves and use a tweezers to remove the ink pad, new ink pads are available online and thru the reatiler that sold you your printer.

Try turning off error correction:
1. Press setup.
2. Select fax settings and press ok.
3. Select communication and press ok.
4. Press the down arror and select ECM and press the right arrow and set it to off.
5. Press OK.

The problem should be resolved.

check and verify that the land line is correctly plugged into the right connector at the back of the fax.. secondly check that you actually have a dial tone.. this is not a fax problem.. its a connectivity problem..
