Arcam AVR200. Buzzing sounds

I had the same problem. I was told by a sales guy at a high end audio store that I should try using a 3-Prong To 2-Prong Adapter. I went and bought one. I plugged it in and no more buzzing.you can find them at HomeDepot, Lowes or dollor store.11_25_2012_6_28_23_pm.jpg

250 AVR distorts sounds whether

Hi there,
Where is the sound coming from? the internal speakers of the devices or do you have a separate speaker connected to the amplifier?
Please check the wiring going to the speakers. Are you using an RCA cable (Red, Yellow and White) an HDMI cable or the +/- negative wires connecting to your speakers?
Another you can do is to lower the bass level just to make sure that it's not set too high causing the speakers to distort.
Hope this helps!

Is the impedance not printed somewhere on the speaker driver?

Even DT doesn't publish the spec on the driver. Contact them and ask. They may have replacement drivers, too, ya think?

Arcam AVR300. When in surround

I'm going to assume there's nothing unusual going on here like bi-amping or speakers being driven by external amps on the pre-outs; and that the volume levels were not really high when it occurred. You would have pointed that out, right?

Is is possible that you may not notice the symptom on music or action unless you are really focusing on it?

http://www.arcam.co.uk/_ugc/file/avr300e_manual.pdf

On page E-13, step 2, what's your configuration?

Does this only happen with a certain digital source?

There are some interesting (mal)adjustments possible on this beast. ADV5 on page E-17, is one. If one source is acting up, would a 'wrong' setting here be responsible?

It's possible that a given digital source may drop out or degrade and if you also have the analog audio connected it may temporarily switch to that feed until the bitstream is restored.

Be sure any optical cables are run so they have no small-radious bends which would cause light signal loss.

I hope this either helps or stimulates an aha moment for you.

Seems you set it to "Stereo Direct" mode. This is an analog only mode, while you are using a digital signal. You can change this with the mode button.
Press menu, on the main menu screen 1, scroll down to stereo direct. Turn this OFF.
This should solve your issue!

Arcam avr300 intermittent problems

I had this same problem with my Arcam AVR300. I ended up shipping mine to an Arcam repair center and they repaired it and shipped it back for under $200. The problems were cracked connection on the start relay and they replaced power supply diodes. Very well worth it and now I can enjoy it again!

I have an Arcam AVR250

hi,

Sometimes it happens. ( age ) or possibly cold solder

joint or mis communication on the Digital Controller

and DSP Unit.

• One way to check is to verify each input if it can pass

output ( line Out ) signals.( at the back of the unit )

• If it does then you just have eliminated a large percentage

on electronic circuits troubleshooting.

• There are more details or info starting

on page E 25 of the manual

[PDF] Download the owners manual - Arcam AVR250 surround sound receiver
have a recheck and triple check on the settings.

But if you need a thorough investigation on the DSP

circuits , it might need a service manual

only with a fee.

And be the last resort as to confirmed if it is really the DSP.

• You can use an external amplifier or a signal tracer when

probing signal outputs on the receiver.

• Here is a link for sample troubleshooting :

a ) Start with the input , then to the op-amp IC. b ) check your cable like those above for co

these unit is just a guide, not the same as yours , but the

process o f troubleshooting and principle is the same.

Only if you feel to DIY.

How can i make a simple wireless speaker ?

There isn't anything too simple about wireless communications. First you need a transmitter. Your headphone output would be a likely source for your transmitter. Once you have that in place you will need a receiver of the same operating frequency as your transmitter. The receiver will demodulate the signal and you will be left with a low voltage audio signal which would then need to be amplified. Amplifier power gain would be dependent upon a few things. Size of speaker, output power desired etc etc. All in all it would be cheaper to buy one. Good Luck!
