Hello i have a 1998 honda 1100 shadow that has sit for 7-8 months. it was running fine when parked. attempted to strart and bettery was fryed, i bought a new battery and the lights wont even go on as if the battery's dead, but it's fully charged ? any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated thank you sam

Check the main fuse, attached to the starter relay, should be 30amp, there should be a spare stored in the fuse box or on the battery holder. Also make sure the battery cables are clean and tight. Make sure ground cable is not corroded and is tight at the frame.

If the bike is in good running order you should be able to drive it every day form dusk to dawn. 10-12 hour rides should be no trouble what so ever. If the motorcycle has been sitting and not run for a few months and your intention is to hop on and ride it six hours to your house, you may want to consider either trailering it home or taking it for a couple of short drives just to verify it is running properly before attempting the long drive home.
