171 is engine way too lean error.
does this car have TBW throttle by wire, ( no steel cable foot to TB) only wires copper there.
if yes it is clogged and elect motor there stuck.
if not TBW (gee i think it is, googling it)
the TV valve is stuck on the TB (throttle body(throttle valve)
or iac valves stuck open
that causes too much air at IDLE (as you shift)
lean engines slow down, not go to 3k RPM
some cars (vast kinds) have a MAP and a MAF both
map for idle and MAF for fast driving only
he map kind and vacuum leans causes sure 3k rpm, with full power.
my guess is TV clogged, vacuum leaks or IAC valve stuck open
the tv and iac can be cleaned.
that rocker bit is guess is just PCV valve there.
if not cracked it can not suck air.

i think the TV is gummed up, with gunk
and stick open as you shift.
and the TBW motor can not close the TV FULLY AND IT RACES
THIS PROBLEM IS VERY NORMAL SERVICE ON ALL CARS,
THE CLEANING IS.

As long as the idle air control valve is working, ( I assume this is what you replaced, I would first check to make sure it is operating correctly), If it is, then Id begin searching for a vacuum leak

There should be a sticker on the door or door surround when you open the front doors. Pressure should be on there though likely to be in bar, ie 1.2 bar, or kpascals. they seem to have dropped psi but 30 psi / 1.2 bar is near enough for a reinflate. If it goes down you have a puncture and will need to visit a tyre shop.

Some cars with an ecu have a default setting whereby they run but only at idle. Go to your local Vauxhall dealer, look sweet and ask the service people if they can offer any idea, I mean the mechanics not the counter staff who generally don't know a handbrake from a halfshaft.
Or go on line and scour the astra owners helplines to see if its a common problem.
Don't spend a penny in a garage without checking all possible areas first. Like the other answer, it may just be a cable or electrical plug come off.

I have a vauxhall astra 2002 1.6 sxi. Ive just put in a mirror switch as the last was broken when I purchased car. The switch has been tested and is working but the mirrors dont work? Cant find a fuse which is specifically for that. Can anybody help?

Have a coolant system pressure test carried out to find out if there are any leaks in the system also replace the coolant pressure sensor as it may be faulty.

there so many reason
1 may be co2 sensor
2 air mass sensor
3 coil pack
4 throttle body sticky

Hi, have you looked for a vacuum leak around engine you should be able to hear a hissing sound if you have a vacuum leak. If no vacuum leak, try unplugging your idle air valve,if it idles down to normal replace or take off and clean very good. If i can help you more just re post

either your blower motor has failed or your resistor the resistor is usually mounted on the blower motor on the front passenger side under dash

i think vauxhall used the canbust system on this car and you cant cut into the wiring m8 you can buy a repair kit from internet but it might be expensive
