this does is not related to the idle adjustment. It sounds strange that there is no fuel filter, there should be. the screen is for only stopping any large debri from going to the carbs. follow the fuel line from the tank valve and I will bet you will find a fuel filter. i also would suggest draining the fuel bowls on the carbs and catch the fuel. check for any debri in this gas. You may try running some seafoam carb cleaner thru the carbs. After changing filter and bowl draining does not work you may have to remove the carbs to clean them and make sure all is operating correctly ( slides). be sure that your air filter is also clean.
Carbs need to be removed, dismantled and cleaned. Soak in solvent or equivelant for a couple hours and use air nozzle to blow dry. Make sure to blow out jets.
its either fuel or air, check the air box under the seat, clean the filter, then check the fuel filter. If this doesnt work I would say you have dirt in your carb main jet.
