Have a 1989 vt1100 shadow--experiencing "rattling" noise from right side of motor upon closed throttle deceleration--also occurs during lower rpm engine loading--almost sounds like exhaust rattle--much less noticeable at steady cruising speed. use premium gas--engine has 42000 miles--using honda gn oil--10w/40.

The rattle is caused because the rpm is lower. When stopped in drive with one foot on the brake, press the throttle down slowly until the vibration stops and the noise goes away. Cause? Weak or bad motor mounts, loose bolts or parts.
