I cant start the bike

Hey Tracey,
The KX250F is a sweet bike. Can you give me a little more information on the symptoms? When you kick it over, does the engine turn freely? Have you ridden it lately or has it been sitting? Does the bike have any visible corrosion, or has it been in a garage with little to no moisture or humidity during storage. Do you have the engine decompression start assist on the bike and is that working properly? Just help me with some answers to these questions and anything else you believe is relevant so I can point you in the right direction more efficiently. :)

Measure them and see. But, anything can be made to fit if you really want it to.

The valves probably need adjusting. This should be done periodically with four stroke dirt bikes. When my bike's valves need adjusting, it kills me trying to kick it, and it backfires a lot.

Another symptom I have noticed for valves that need adjustment is when I pull in the clutch sometimes, the bike will stall.

really any but dex cool. The best i have found to date is liquid performance. Any good shop should know what it is and well it works i have used it in race bikes for over 7 yrs now and have better cooling with it then anything i have used. ther is a chance that being over filled will blow out of the crank breather so drain off to the correct level if then the bike still does this then you have to high crank presure meaning the bore and piston/rings are badly worn

There are two seals on the impeller pump. Replace the seals an the leak is stopped. Put in a new cover gasket as well.

This is normal for a fresh top end. Fingers with a bit of oil on them assembled the top end and a bit of the oil is on the engine and is burning off. It will stop pretty soon. Go for a ride!

If the bike is in neutral and is hard to kick and no piston seize exists, the only other sources for resistance other than compression would be the main bearings and rod bearings, OHC caps, oil pump and water pump. I mention the two pumps because there is a slight possibility that a partial hydraulic lock could be occurring due to a plugged line.

Have you checked the gearbox oil lately?

Just call your local Kawasaki dealer, or any Kawasaki dealer, and give them the VIN number and they can look it up and tell you EXACTLY what the bike is. If you call a local dealer they may know the current owner and the bike's history.

If your motorcycle has a center stand, use it for long term storage. If you're not riding for several weeks and don't have a center stand, you may want to consider carefully propping up the bike using blocks. Don't do more harm than good by dropping your bike while attempting to prop it up! If done correctly, lifting your motorcycle will alleviate stress on the suspension and tires. Inflate your tires to the maximum recommended pressure will maintain their shape, since cooling temperatures will make the pressurized air contract. If the ground might potentially freeze, try to keep the tires off the ground using wood blocks.
