I have a yz 125 with a rebuilt motor i put the nuw parts to the cluhch in a it stays ingaged it will not release using the clutch leaver. ive tryed doing like the diragram shows on the computer but no luck could you help me with this problem? you can contact me at [email protected] thank you tim. im not sure about the year.
A very common problem with wet clutches is that many folks do not use the correct oil. The plates in the clutch are sandwiched under spring pressure and there is nothing in the mechanism to release them, so if the oil creates too much "stiction" then the plates can become suctioned together.
I suggest first trying an oil change using an oil designed for use with wet clutches. Then, get a running start, hop on the bike and drop it into gear. Then pull in the clutch and while holding the clutch lever in, rev the motor to break the plates loose. If this fails after a few attempts, your plates could be rusted together - possibly from a leaking waterpump seal or a ride through deep water. A simple tear-down of the clutch will tell the tale and this can be done without buying any parts if you are careful.

This could be caused by a number of things from incorrect cable adjustment(too much freeplay)rust buildup on steel plates(unless they are alloy),replacement fibre plates too thick(especially if aftermarket fiber plates were used)warped plates(shouldn't be if new)incorrect placement of clutch actuating arm on splined shaft if you removed it.Plates should be lubed with oil before fitting.Plates always go fibre plate first followed by steel(or alloy)followed by fiber & continue alternating to finish with a fibre.Did you genuine parts?
