Just needing some help on how to assemble top end.

You will need to remove the t-belt. Remove the valve cover. One of the cams has a spring loaded gear on it that has a bolt hole to install a bolt on it so the second half of the gear does not loose pressure. I believe that it is the front cam.There are two dots that will line up to one another and engine should be timed if possible before disassembly begins. This will make it easier upon assembly. The gear has that to keep the rattling down as the two cams turn together. Put a bolt through and start removing the cam caps. Loosen all a little at a time so that you do not put to much pressure on any one of them. Make sure that when you start to reassemble that everything is very clean. Align cams and reassemble with plenty of either engine oil or another suitable cam lubricant. You will need to torque the cam caps and front gear to manufacturers specs. You are correct...the base is not pre-assembled as stated in the instructions. However it is a very easy task. The four base parts slot together in a fairly obvious way. The bolts to use are actually packaged separately and marked as "Bolts for Base". There are four bolts in total. One bolt goes in each corner of the base assembly. I put my bolts through from the bottom with the nuts and lockwashers on top. I did this to minimize the ground clearance although now that it is assembled it probably wasn't necessary. Once the four base pieces are together you can follow the instructions as printed. BTW, when bolting the four upright channels to the base, two of them use the same bolts as the ones holding one end of the "U"-shaped wheel supports. The instructions didn't mention this. It is also fairly obvious. In the end, no problems putting this extremely sturdy stand together. I'm glad I bought this to go along with my planer!

Put the piston at TDC (Top Dead Center) by lining up the timing marks on the flywheel and stator. Put the cylinder head back together with the cam installed so the high points of the cam lobes are pointing kind of downward. Pull the cam chain taught on the front side of the engine. Put the chain on the cam gear such that, when bolted to the cam, the index mark or marks are in the proper position.

The proper position depends on what markings are on the cam. Some bikes have a single mark; an arrow, a straight line or an "O". The mark should line up with the center-line of the crankshaft. If the cam has two marks opposite each other, the lines should be parallel with the gasket surface. You will need to rotate the unbolted cam left or right just a bit in order to match up the bolt holes to the gear holes.
