I was using the truck, parked it and when I went to restart it, it would not start. The fuel pump does not start when the ignition key is turned to start the engine. What steps should I take to troubleshoot my problem?
Check your ignition control module, the little black box under the key switch, mine did this same thing and after replacing every fuse, relay and link, i tapped on the ign. module and everything turned on! tapped again and everything off, i took a good one off a parts truck and pow! working great! i hope this helps
The back end of truck can be taken off by removing a few bolts and haveing some friends lift it away to get to fuelpump.
Check for blown fuse, defect. pump relay,if ok, check power at sending unit connector,if power is there ,pull pump from tank inspect connections going to pump,if ok,replace pump,if no power at send.unit conn.probe elect.circuit, for open circuit damage.

I checked all the fuses and they appear to be fine. The pump relay is working also. Where is the power sending unit?
can I test the sending unit without dropping the tank? I can reach on top of the tank and feel the fuel lines. Are there connections there that I can test or are they inside the tank?
