What does the 3en-81950-00 relay do? What is it responsible for? I can't find a diagram online showing all that is tied to it. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If I remember right, an 3EN-81950-00 multi-function relay onboard an FZR would be on the right side, beside or behind the starter relay. Its function is an electro-mechanical processor. It detects if the transmission is in neutral, side stand is down, clutch is in. In turn it enables the CDI to work and the starter relay to trigger the starter motor. Internally it would have 2 relays and a couple of diodes.

Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

 3EN-81950-00 Relay Assembly

Benimur is correct. This is often reffered to as the master relay or the relay assembly and it has about 4 different circuits in it which include a couple diodes and a couple relays. More information about this relay and the entire electrical system of a Yamaha FZR can be found at http://www.fzrarchives.com/online_manuals.html this site has been around forever over 6 years since I've had my fizzer and they never let me down with all the info I need.
In particular if you D/L the manual for the 600 CC you can use section 8 and you will see all the information you need to troubleshoot this relay and test it. You must check continuity and resistance across a couple of different sets of pins to properly test all the included circuits in the module. The reference values to check all of the circuits in this module are in all 3 of the section 8 files that are provided in the manuals that are linked above. There are a couple circuits on the lighting system check for this relay module in file 1 and 3 and the testing of the ignition cut off relay and diode inside this module can be found in file 2. Hope this helps took a lil bit to find the specs I needed but this info got me through the test I needed to diagnoss this relay to be an issue that I was having with my Ingnition System on my 96' FZR lucky for us most years 89-99 are the same so this manual will work for most people.. they even have a manual for the 400 CC on there too I think.

Hi, its a fuel pump, neutral and sidestand relay

  • Anonymous Jun 21, 2013

yes, if the sidestand is down, putting it in gear will kill the engine.. stops you riding off with the stand down.

Where is the relay for the windsheild wipers on a 2004 f-550

The windshield wiper relay on a 2004 Ford F-550 is typically located in the fuse box under the hood. The fuse box is usually located near the front of the vehicle, on the driver's side. To find the windshield wiper relay, you will need to refer to your vehicle's owner's manual or a wiring diagram for the vehicle. The owner's manual should have a diagram of the fuse box that will show you the location of the windshield wiper relay. Alternatively, you can search online for a wiring diagram for your vehicle.

Once you have located the fuse box, you may need to remove a cover to access the fuses and relays. Look for a fuse or relay labeled "wiper" or "wiper relay" to find the windshield wiper relay. If you are having trouble finding the windshield wiper relay, you may want to consider consulting a mechanic or taking your vehicle to a dealership for assistance.

Where can I get a complete steering diagram for an 05 grand prix?

Steering diagram? There isn't too much to it, you have the steering wheel connected to the steering column, the column connected to the rack n pinion, the rack is connected to the inner then outer tie rods, and the outer tie rods are connected to the steering knuckles. The power steering pump has a high pressure and a return line connecting it to the rack n pinion.

How can you tell if relays in fuse panel are good

They can be tested if pulled out. Know how a relay works? Relays have a power side and a coil side. When the coil side is energized from voltage applied to it, the electrical contacts on the power side close allowing power to pass through the relay from the power feed supply on to the part the relay controls.

To test one, you use jumper wires from the battery to the coil side. Usually will hear a click-showing the power side contacts did close. The relay will have a small diagram etched into it, showing which two or more terminals are for the coil side, and which other terminals are the power side. If more than four terminals, the diagram will show how all are tied into the relay. Jumper a positive wire to the coil side input terminal, and a negative to the coil output terminal. If you have a multi meter, check that the power side terminals show continuity when coil side is jumped. It should have continuity-relay is good. If no multi meter, but you can hear or feel a click when testing-probably good.
That's the only way to test relays. Another solution if you suspect a bad relay is to swap in a known good relay. When the relay is pulled out, a good idea to check if the power feed for the relay is present. Use a test light grounded to a screw or metal bracket, and probe all the terminals that relay plugs in to. One terminal should have power lighting the test light, verifying power feed is good. Most, if not all relays, have a power source that is hot at all times, but if you find no power on any terminal, turn the key to on and check again-that relay may only have power available when key is in on or run.
Good luck.

No power to the fuel pump

Obvious answer is there is a break from the relay and pump cable. Run a single cable from the relay to the pump independantly to confirm this. It happened to me on a Rover 75, easy and cheap to fix when you find the cable responsible just terminate the original and tie to the loom using cable ties.

Look at this diagram. #6 is the rubber boots and #7 is the shaft from the inner tie rods.
