Harleys are known for their shaking but when they get really bad I usually start looking for broken motor mounts. I suspect you either have a lose one or broken. The rubber wears out and then they get obnoxious.

SOURCE: 2001 H-D Road King engine knock

01road king..probably have 30 to 40 thousand on it...Sounds like cam chain tensioner..about the only thing that will go wrong with your bike. I will assume you have oil etc in it...If you have not been running your bike stupid then nothing mechanical will usually brake on a Harley. Once again I assume its stock. You don't have an oil light on so I'll put my money on cam chain tensioner has exploded or is about to.

SOURCE: Oil change directions, 2003 Road King

The drain plug is on the left side of the oil reservoir pointing towards the front of the bike. The motor should be warm when you dump the oil and the o-ring should be replaced as an extra precaution (don't want to waste that new oil if you have a drip). When replacing the oil filter use a piece of tin foil to divert the oil to your waste pan.

SOURCE: Rear brake light not workiing

There are two brake light switches. One is in the right handlebar switch housing. This is front brake light switch and is a simple push button type switch actuated by the front brake lever.

The other switch is a pressure switch and it is located in a Tee usually somewhere under the bike near the rear of the transmission. Follow the metal tube coming out of the rear of the master cylinder. It will go back towards the rear brake. Somewhere in that line there will be a tee with the pressure switch in it. If you jumper across this switch, the brake light should work. If it does work when you do this but not work when you depress the rear brake signal, replace the rear brake light switch.

Good luck
Steve

I HAVE A 1999 ROAD KING , I HAVE A CODE 41 AN 16 WHAT ARE THEY REFERENCED TO. AND THE BIKE STILL RUNS, BUT ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING BUT NOT WHEN AT IDLE

code 41 is a crank position sensor and 16 is a fluctuation in battery voltage below 8 or over 16.

If the CP sensor was bad, your bike wouldn't fire. It may be failing. Your engine light should stop coming on after about 40 cycles
