SOURCE: my 2005 vstar 1100 wont start

Im guessing here this is the first startup since garaging over winter months. Check your carb jets, if clean.........drain the gas and put fresh gas in its place.

Dawn it is running lean if it will run on 1/3 choke when you choke it like that it actually restricts the air flow into the carburetor my suggestion would be to remove the carburetor and clean it real good and try that first before going anywhere else

Sounds like it may be drawing air around the intake somewhere. Let it idle and spray around carefully with wd-40 until it speeds up. This will reveal the leak.

Hard to start when hot

Turn off fuel petcock before you shut down bike. Let idle for a couple minutes. When you restart leave fuel petcock off until it fires. This works for me when its really hot outside. 2007 VSTAR 1100 classic.

Engine will not start. Was running great one day ,Next day just would not start Checked for spark...seems ok.Checked for fuel ,seems okay Not sure about fuel pump.Put the fuel into a jar and fuel comes...

try a little starting fluid in a carb see if fires if the bike fires up then dies then start checking for fuel line from tank to carb for flowing if it gets down to the carbs and not flowing (not sure if your bike includes a auto fuel shut off or not) but the problem could reside in this location otherwise there could be water in the fuel bowls in which case you drain the cups hope this helps to trace down your problem

Bit of a problem go get the bike running.

Can you confirm if the bike, once running, runs well below 3000rpm?

I've experienced this model not liking pilot jet usage due to an accumulation of fine particles in the fuel which build up and block the pilot jets.

Above about 3000rpm, it runs on mains jets.

If this is the problem, you can use a high quality fuel filter but it must be high flowing as this model drinks fuel.

Looking forward to your post.
