Can a cracked 2008 ktm 85 sx be welded?

Yes it can be done, but Ally welding is not something for a novice. Find a local engineering company with a good reputation and they should be able to help.

Hi please reply soon my ktm sx 125 2001 left side crankcase has split 10 centimeters down the middle just behind the sproket, it cant get welded because the sprocket will be pulling at the weld so hard it...

A left crankcase half would probably be a problem even if you found one. The L and R center case on all bikes are matched sets. Slight differences in production can easily create a mis-match. It would be a bummer to purchase a Left case then find that a gear shaft binds up whenever the case screws are tightened. I have seen it many times. Your best bet is to find a used gearbox and either try to use it after checking the shifter prior to mounting in the frame. If it looks like the shifter has problems, put the guts of your old ****** into the new case. I would suggest that you use the output shaft from the new ****** since yours took a beating bad enough to crack the case. Selling for parts is a bad idea. Selling as a project bike is a much better idea. How about using it as a trade-in?

Hi my ktm 125 sx 2001 left hand crankcase has a 10 centimetre split right down the middle i dont think it can be a cheap fix with a weld cos the front sprocket must be sticking out a wee bit cos the chain...

a good weld shop can fix that with a price mind you. The best thing would be to replace it. you'll have to split the case to have it welded so why not just replace it. don't forget the seals and check the bearings.

Thanks for contacting FixYa. I was reviewing some of the older un-answered questions trying to ensure your issue has been resolved.

You should be able to resolve this issure by just removing the top end. You will have to remove the tank, the pipe, disconnect the carb, any water hoses, and possibly the radiator. If there is no damage to the connecting rod you be able to thoroughly clean the crankcase withough removing the engine. If you have damage to the top rod end you will have to pull the engine and split the case to replace the connecting rod.
