2008 Yamaha Stratoliner S Questions & Answers
What oil do i use
You can use any oil that is JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cold climate. 20w-50 for warm climate / heavy highway use. Do not use any oil that says Energy Conserving on the label , it has the wrong additives and will shorten the life of your wet clutc and transmission gears. Synthetic oils will help your bike run cooler and shift easier.

Did you change anything ... like putting stuff in a saddle bag? Different boots? Have you cheked air pressure in the tires? Are you sitting on the bike differently?
I'm leaning to tire pressure or uneven front tire wear and it does not have to be a lot of uneven tire wear to act in thismanner.

Speedo reflects onto windshield at night
The dash panel can be dimmed. Check your owners manual and it will tell you how to do this.
Also, I cut about 2" off the top of my windshield so it would be just below my line of sight. This solved the reflection problem totally.

When you get to the clock, push and hold the button. The hour will flash - bump the button to go up. To get to the minute, push and hold again to get to the minutes, bump to go up. This is the method for the few Yamahas I have messed with although I've never messed with this particular model - but it's worth a try..

What would cause a lifter to collapse on a 2010
Sounds like a defective lifter.
Should still be Under warranty. Take it back let them fix it.
Checking around I found this tidbit:
"turned out that I screwed up and overfilled the bike with oil, which
apparently got aerated and managed to form an air bubble in one
hydraulic lifter Tappety tap. Removing a half quart of oil or so made the
problem go away."
Also read where there was a recall on these concerning the lifters.
Supports my theory it is possibly a defective part.
Since you only have 600 miles on the bike. This is the time to take it back to have the break in oil replaced. Have them check it.
Good luck!
Hope this helps.
