Where is the relay/ solenoid located?

Follow the posotive wire from the battery untill you find a rubber cap covering the eyelet on the end of the wire, here it will fasten to the starter solenoide, the other side of the relay wire connects to the starter motor so you could start at this end and work back till you locate the solenoide

How to get into the battery compartment of the

The battery is behind the right hand side panel. It is held in place by a single bolt that requires an allen key (hexagonal drive) to remove it. Undo the bolt and then the rear of the cover unclips from 2 rubber bushes (A bit stiff and awkward, but a few good tugs will get it off)

I have a 2001 Yamaha

It very likely coming from the banjo bolt that retains the lube line that feeds the top of the engine. Remove the spark plug cover and check the tightness of the large bolt you will see. I have seen this problem a few times.

I need to replace sparkplugs..........How do I

you dont need to remove seat and fuel tank to get to the spark plugs. On the rear cylinder, there is a chrome cover on top of motor that is held in place by rubber gromletts take care not to break the studs when removing them. They can be alittle tight and difficult to remove. The front cylinder is on the left side top of cylinder.

I have a 04 V star 650 and it is not firing, need

You will need an ohm meter. First check to see if your kill switch is working, by unplugging the switch and testing continuity in run and off positions,if that is ok, then you need to check resistance in the pickup coil.On the lower left side of the motor you will need to trace wires from the stator up to the cdi. Disconnect the two pin connector. On the stator side of the connector measure the resistance between the two wires. Ohm reading should be 188-222 ohms at 68 degrees. if it out of spec you will need to replace the pickup coil.

Bike sat for 2-3 weeks.

Carburetor issue. Most likely the pilot jet is plugged in one or both carbs. Remove the carbs as a set, remove the float bowls, remove and clean all of the removeable jets, (do not use wire to clean jets, use carb cleaner or the proper jet drills if you have/know how to use them). Reassemble and reinstall making sure that carbs seat fully in the manifold boots.

My '04 v-star 650 feels

I believe you can see the actual shaft for the shaft drive spin. If you start the motor and put it in gear and see the shaft spinning the problem is a stripped pair of gears in the final drive. Compare the cost of the pieces (plus labor) to the entire assembly, the assembly will probably be cheaper. If you can not see the shaft just check the oil in the final drive for metal chips. A worst case scenario , your engine case has metal chips ( That might cost more.).
