It might be an after market radio. The wiring is deceptively simple. There is a memory wire(usually blue) that is supposed to have full time power from fuse box. What some people do with an after market radio, is wire the full time hot side of the radio, to the switched side. Witch causes your problem. To fix this issue, find your full time power behind the radio, and the switched power wire. They will have to be separated if they are connected. Your radio should have a wire diagram either on the radio or on the aftermarket wire harness. Various radios have different colors signifying wire codes. 2 things are certain; RED is hot BLACK is ground. Memory wires are either yellow, blue, or green. They should say what they are. In the bike side, you already know you have a full time hot wire. Now you have to locate the "SWITCHED" hot wire. To do this, grab a tester light, ground the clip on the frame, and check all of the wires that could be possible hots while turning the key off and on. Match all of your wires, button it up, and you shouldn't have any more issues. ^^ Good luck.

There is no way to reset the computer. The reason the bike is idling high is because of a sensor. The throttle positioning sensor is usually the cause of this.

The 2001 model had a problem with the left compartment. In your main trunk you will find on the left and right side a black button insert, pop it out and with your finger you can push the mechanism down, this will open the compartment. I had to tear into the locking mechanism and shortened a new rod to cure my problem, hope you don't have to go to this extent to cure your problem

Gold wings are notorious for the carbs going bad if they aren't ridden regularly. The gasoline gets old, the float bowls dry out and the jets get clogged. You can drain the tank and the float bowls and put some fresh gasoline in the bike. But, if that doesn't work, you'll need to have the carbs gone through and cleaned.

The Power Steering has failed. There has been a factory recall for a suddenly failing electrical steering shaft, that could cause the rider to loose control. This does not have to be your problem but anyhow either the electronics or the pump failed. Error codes or messages usually have to be erased by a simple reset procedure or disconnecting a plug, after repairs are done.

Check the wiring, especially the engine earth lead.

On the bottom of your speedometer on the left side there is 2 buttons press the far left one for a couple of seconds and the light should go on
