do not use wd40. There is electric contact cleaner. This is also in a spray pressure can. Try that. You might just be ready for a new switch also. You can try Walmart for a good price. google it for price check.

check to see if your brake light is working if it is then your earth is ok as you have 2 rear bulbs if they are both out then it is your main rear light fuse if only 1 light is out then it is your bulb

It sounds like there is either a loose connector on the fuse bank or an intermittent ground connection. I can't say for certain if the gauges cutting out and the fans failing to come on are related problems. sounds like a bad shifter fork, and the gears that you are shifting into as well as the shift drum is worn. the trans will have to be disassemble to inspect.

Just a guess, but could it be a kickstand (sidestand) warning light, to alert you so you don't ride off with the kickstand down? Maybe there's a switch at the kickstand that needs adjusting.

The trunk should bolt onto a carrier or frame. Look for bolts under the trunk.
