4-way flashers will not turn off on a 2012 Harley Davidson Wide Glide @

Hi, Anonymous before testing any electrical component in the Turn Signal Light Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test because your battery may have 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, "AGM" batteries fall into this category more so than lead-acid types, also before diagnosing any turn signal/running light/parking light issue make sure the bulb is good and the light fuse has continuity with a test light. If you have replaced your OEM lights with one or all LED lights you are going to need a load equalizer. If no turn signals are working the cause could be a faulty turn signal module/flasher or the connector going to it, look for, corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets. Contact spray cleaner is great for removing corrosion. If your turn signal comes on but takes several seconds before it starts flashing you may have dirty contacts in the turn signal switch/button, the switch needs to be opened up and cleaned also the flasher may be starting to fail. It should be noted that cold weather will only exacerbate the situation especially when temperatures drop down below freezing and the location of the component, turn signal switches on the handlebar are at the mercy of the oncoming freezing 70 mph wind and makes it hard for the contacts to do their job covered in frozen grease/grime If all four turn signals flash at the same time like hazard lights even though you only pressed one turn signal button then you have a LED light in the circuit and need a load equalizer that can be purchased from any motorcycle parts supplier. If your speedometer does not function properly it will have to be fixed first because your turn signal module gets the data from the speedometer for normal turn signal function. If your front turn signals don't work use a test light to check for power and ground at the bulb socket, then start backtracking the wiring through every wire connector to the turn signal switch/button and check for continuity, go all the way back to the fuse if necessary to find the cause of the malfunction. If your rear turn signals don't work check your rear fender wiring harness connector first, for corroded, broken, loose pins/sockets, power, and good ground, the harness connector is usually located under the seat on the front of the rear fender then keep tracing the wiring look for obvious harness damage caused by the rear tire. If you still can't find the malfunction backtrack from the rear fender wiring harness connector. If one side does not work you could have a faulty turn signal switch or module check for continuity. 2001 Harley Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide no spark @

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are: 1. Fouled spark plugs. 2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries. 3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary. 4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module. 5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark. 6. A faulty ignition coil or electronic control module. 7. Faulty pulse coil. 8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor. 9. Faulty ignition switch. 10. Faulty run/off switch 11. Tilt sensor needs a reset. 12. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset For more information about your issue and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need for viewing or printing please click on the blue links below. 2000 pro street custom clutch adjustment @

Hi, Victoriakung a proper clutch adjustment for big twins starts by squirting some silicone spray or Brake Kleen into the top of the rubber boot on the clutch cable and sliding it back exposing the cable adjuster. Loosen the jam nut and turn the adjusting screw all the way in so your clutch lever has excessive slop. Remove the Derby cover, loosen the jam nut on the clutch pack adjuster screw and screw it in until light resistance is felt against the clutch rod then back the adjusting screw out 3/4 of a turn and tighten the jam nut. Check primary fluid level and replace Derby cover unless you are running an early model "Dry Clutch" leave the Derby cover off. Go back to the clutch cable adjuster and back it out until there is 1/8" free play between the clutch lever and the bracket perch. This is correctly accomplished by pulling the clutch cable end outward with your right hand and pulling the clutch lever in with your left hand and modest pressure on both hands to eyeball the free play. Tighten cable adjuster jam nut and slide rubber boot back to its original position. On Dry Clutch Models you need to square the pressure plate by adjusting the 3 stud nuts on the outside of the pressure plate so that when the clutch lever is pulled in the pressure plate shoots "STRAIGHT" out and disengages evenly. On Sportster models, the procedure is the same except the clutch cable adjuster screws directly into the primary cover with a jam nut. 2011 Harley Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide service manual @

Hi, Anonymous the vast majority of service, parts fiche, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain specs-fluid requirements and capacities and wiring diagrams in the back pages. Another "FREE" source is online libraries you can join for a one month "FREE" trial then cancel at the end of the month. The rest usually charge a modest fee from $15-$20 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. If there is no $ sign after the manual link it is free to download view and print. To download your manual for viewing or printing please click on the blue links below. 2003 Harley Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide will not idle @

Hi, Anonymous you need to make sure you have no intake leaks by spraying some Brake Kleen, Contact Cleaner, Starting Fluid, etc. around the intake manifold and seals, if the RPM's go up or down significantly then you have a leak that needs to be fixed before you can continue with the carburetor adjustment. The engine should be at operating temperature with the choke off to set the idle between 950-1050 rpm. Turn the idle skrew clockwise to increase the idle speed and counterclockwise to decrease the idle speed. If you have access to your air-fuel mixture skrew you may turn it in as well, if not there is a video below on how to gain access, make sure you start with clean or new spark plugs. Gently turn the air-fuel mixture skrew clockwise until it starts to bottom out "STOP" do not over tighten as it will damage the taper on the end, now back the skrew out 1-1/2 full turns to establish a starting point start the engine and check the idle rpm's and turn the idle skrew accordingly for 950-1050 rpm if necessary, turn the air-fuel mixture skrew 1/4 turn at a time and let the engine settle for about 10 seconds, turn the skrew clockwise for a leaner mixture and counterclockwise for a richer mixture, you are seeking the highest rpm your air-fuel mixture skrew can acquire without going past 3 full turns from the bottom then resetting the idle skrew back down to 950-1050 rpm If you can not detect any rpm change and can not stall the engine by turning the air-fuel mixture skrew all the way in then your pilot/low-speed jet is too big and needs to be replaced with the next size smaller. The final adjustment should be made with a clean air filter mounted to the carburetor. 2008 Harley Davidson FLSTF Fatbob how to charge the battery @

Hi, Anonymous the best way to charge a battery is slowly. I like to use this analogy, would you rather be awakened from a deep sleep with gentle nudging or a violent kick in the rear. 1. Remove the battery and check for corroded or damaged terminals clean any dirt, corrosion or electrolyte that is on top of the battery as this will cause premature battery drain, inspect for cracks and swollen/expanded sides which are a sign of overheating and replacement should be seriously considered. 2. Acid plate type batteries should be checked with a hydrometer with recorded readings for each cell to be compared with after charging readings and for sulfation, the cell will appear milky, and incorrect acid level. Fill low levels with distilled water to the upper level and remove acid from overfilled cells with a hydrometer until the level is at the upper mark and dispose of acid in the sink mixed with a quart/litre of water. 3. Connect a voltmeter set on the DC scale to the battery and record the reading for comparison after charging. 4. Attach a drain hose that is not pinched, kinked, or plugged to the nipple on acid plate type batteries and let the other end hang into a plastic or styrofoam cup. 5. Connect a 1-2 amp trickle charger that has an automatic charge rate reduction if possible and let charge for 24 hours. 6. After charging recheck each cell with a hydrometer a 100% fully charged cell will have a specific gravity reading of 1.270-1.280 and 1.180-1.190 has only a 25% charge, the battery should be load tested and considered for replacement if necessary. Reconnect your voltmeter and any readings in the 10-volt range means you have a dead cell and the battery needs to be replaced. Readings between any 2 cells of 50 points or more indicate the battery has failed and needs to be replaced. 7. No maintenance AGM or GEL batteries need to have a voltmeter reading of 12.8-13 volts for a full 100% charge and 12.2 volts is only a 25% charge and should be load tested and replaced if necessary.
