A4 Diesel estate, intermittantly starts but cuts out immediately. Orange Glow Plug warning light is constantly flashing.

1.9 L F9Q I4 turbo-diesel( none in USA) DDIS
stalls. has many causes but lost diesel pressure.
fuel filters packed up. (even air filter too)
in your mind pretend filter 99 % packed up. see?
dont need Glow plug to drive a hot engine. start yes, and when warm engine they turn off. not needed now.
filters top my list for sure fuel
The F9x is the direct injected Diesel version and also features an 8-valve SOHC configuration.
high pressure injector pump or its regulator bad.
intermittent or weak pump.
so scanning the PCM finds not one DTC error.? buy scan tool
and scan it at stall?

jaguar x-type 2ltr diesel 2004 the glow plug warning light flashing, was told dirty fuel on fault code all fuel changed and filters. No problems for 20 miles untill engine was put under power on high revs went into limp mode, warning light glow plug falshing again? any ideas thanks.

it sounds like a glow plug issue. perhaps a bad glow plug relay. I would think its the relay if the problem comes and goes. If it were a bad glow plug the problem would be constant. check for volts at the glow plugs next time the car acts up. If you find no volts, tap on the glow plug relay next time you turn the key on. This may cause it to activate. if so then replace relay

The glow plug light in VW cars are telling you you have a fault not with the glow plugs but with the engine management.Get a garage to do a diagnostic check for you.

Glow light flashing is an engine management warning generally, if you can get vagcom have a look at the fault codes. you need to have codes pulled to see whats causeing it

Dear Sir Glow plug light is on it didn't mean that glow plug faliuer, it mean the power supply is continusly on to glow plug, car will start good even incold condition,please check glow plug timer or show it technician ,but it can cause glow plug failuer in future. Thanks.

could be faulty relay, a scan for fault codes should reveal problem

VW 2005 ?? think this is a dealer only job because not sure when this vehicle manufacturer started using encrypted software ,so iam not sure if its the glow plug relay faulty ?' 37euros new or a burnt connection in the big fuses support connectors ,i would be inclined to check the big fuses near the battery in case you have a burnt wire or connector ,because loss of contact then it arcs over would cause the glow plugs to come on because it thinks its being started when the power is turned on again

does the glow plug/coil light flash at all???? once would indicate glow plug relay fault! three times would indicate FUEL pump failure! sorry never experienced two flashes....

The Glow plug coming on, and the car going into limp home mode, is a default safety feature that occurs when the engine management system picks up any kind error message from the many sensors now used on the car.
I've found the glow plug light problem with my Jag, it was the air filter. Apparently Jaguar servicing change it every 3rd service (not a good idea). I changed mine, it is a new car. I had the EPR valve cleaned and a major diagnostic carried out by a local garage (who had the Jag diagnostic software). It turns out I also need a new Turbo; the actuator is sticking (£759.00 plus 3 hours labour). But hey, the main limp home mode problem is fixed and I can drive my Jag confident it will accelerate when press the gas.
