Could be if it is a tooth off, the ECM won't be able to fully compensate for the timing differential.

AS FAR AS A STEP-BY-STEP:
This type forum to answer that question would literally take dozens of pages. I would strongly suggest you purchase a Haynes or Chilton Manual available at most auto parts stores. You will need the Torque Specifications for each and every Bolt and Nut involved.

Does it turn over really easy and fast? If so you have a broken timing belt.

Check out the autozone.com website and register your car. It is free and will give you access to an online repair manual for the car. The steps for changing the timing belt should be available there. Hope this helped and best wishes.

If the blots threads are gone then probably the threads in the hole it goes into are gone also. You need to get a thread tap to run into the hole to create new threads and then get a replacement bolt to install into the newly tapped threads. Good luck. You can buy a good tap and die set that will have the thread tappers you will need to so this.

yes, it will hurt the engine. if the engine is running when the belt breaks, you can have the top of the pistons hit the intake and exhaust valves..... very bad. replace the belt before this happens
