One of my fans(on my radiator, the drivers side one) has quit working and i am thinking that it may be a fuse or a relay switch....or of course the fan itself. i do not have an owners manual that shows what fuses are for what or where the relay switches are. I have a 1997 Audi A6 wagon Quattro..any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, i will agree with you, check your fuses , and relays, especially the fan relay. look under your hood, on the drivers side for a black or gray colored box, and fuses and relays are normally on the inside.

Radiator Fan Not Working Properly

If you see pin 87 you must see 30 ! 30 should have B+ voltage as will 86 . Pin 85 is to the engine computer ,PCM/ECM . If you jump to pin 85 you run the risk of frying the PCM on that circuit . A transistor inside the PCM is switched on when the engine temp gets to hot . The PCM supply's a ground for the control side of the relay energizing the relay an closing the contacts inside the relay sending B+ voltage from pin 87 to pin 30 to the fans ! Go to you tube an check out video on relay's an how they work .

id bet it is not the fuse. see why? the blower, would be dead.

10 fuses on bottom row. fuse 29 bottom right.
fuse 39 center right
and top 2 are 51 and 50 , left to right

Which fuse or relay in the fuse box is for the radiator fan?

Unless other items are not working then it is unlikely to be the fuse as this is common to quite a few components, off the top of my head I think it is fuse 16 in the passenger bay fusebox (drivers side if you are LHD). More detailed info on the fuses can be found at http://www.bluejag.co.uk Your problem is more likely the fan control which is a common failure. Jag part no is C2S43493.

Wher is the Fan Relay Switch

The fan relay switch is actually located on the electrical fan. There will be a fuse for this under the hood and under the dashboard, drivers side interior in most cases. You can isolate the problem by using some sires to create a connection between the battery and the fan to identify if the problem is before or after the hood fuse, the fan itself or fuse under the dashboard.

Engine fan does not turn on

Look on the radiator for a switch (Physically screwed into the radiator) with 2 terminals on it.

Pull them off and short them together with a piece of wire. (Jumper) If the fan runs your thermostatic switch is bad.

The switch is a real common failure.

If the fan does not run... check the fuses.

If fuses are ok then check the fan winding for resitance with an Ohm meter.
No resistance = burned out fan motor

Where in the heck is the radiator fuses on a 2003 chevy monte carlo SS. The passenger side fan motor has quit but is showing it has power when tested with a testing light?

if you have power there then the fuses are good or relays but if you have power then you ethier have a bad fan or ground wire also that fan should only come on when the ac is on

Jump a wire from the battery to the hot lead on the fan -- see if it turns -- if it turns, check the fan relay.

Cooling fan relay not working

The relay is easily replaceable. Either a gray or black box located on the passenger side, front of the engine compartment mounted to the frame that the radiator mounts to as well, there should be 4(that's how many my 94 Century 3.0L has) of the relays side by side, readily visible when you open the hood. Using a new relay, you can test each relay one at a time switching them out, until you find which one activates your cooling fan. On the flip side, it is an electric fan, so it only turns on typically when your engine exceeds 200+ (i think it's 225) degrees, or you activate the a/c on max setting, so maybe it's possible that it does operate under those conditions, but you're not able to witness it...? good luck, I chased that issue on my Century for quite some time...
