We recently rebuilt the engine in our 91 CRX. About 2 weeks after running just fine the engine started turning off at turns. It only did this 3 times but when it would be at a stop getting ready to turn when we took our foot off thebreak and went to push the gas the car would turn off. It would start right up again after that. Then one day I went to start the car and it would start up and die out. Eventually the engine wouldn't start at all but it's still acting like it wants to turn over. I'm trying to get some idea if the 2 incidents are related and if there are any common suggestions to fix it.

Well a car needs air, gas, and electricity to run. air that i know of is very, very hard to go out, so we should rule out that possibility. now spark. the alternator usually gives a battery light, and well your car you said is turning over so probably not alternator. the distributor when is bad cuts off after a couple of minutes of driving and restarts hours after it cools down. so that leaves gas. unfortunately it can be either bad, or really bad. if its bad, then its a clogged fuel filter, which isnt expensive to change but it is a little bit hard. if you get a mechanic to do it, it should cost $50. this is bad because it means that you might need to save up for a fuel pump. if its really bad, you need to get a new fuel pump which costs around $500 to change.

note: what i listed above are only the most common possibilities. there are also other possibilities. one thing you should start by checkin is all of your fuses. an important fuse like the ecu or main relay fuse may have blown. also, you might want to have your mechanic check your main relay as it does control your fuel pump. also, check your belts, make sure they spin or are even on right. another thing you should know is that when having an engine rebuilt you should have a year of warranty in case the rebuild is unsuccesful. it is possible that either it wasnt succesful, or the timing belt slipped or something internal happened. so ask your mechanic and have him check it out. well i hope this helps. goodluck

What is the firing order for a 1991 crx si

the firing order for your 91 crx should be 1, 3, 4 and 2. You need to identify where the rotor points to when cylinder 1 is at top dead center.
Cylinder number 1 is the one closest to the accessory belts (alternator, power steering , etc, hope this helps.

1987 subaru carburator problems

You need to hone the accelerator pump well and adjust the throw of the pump rod as much as possible to get more fuel. Of course that is just a guess based on 100's of rebuilds i have done over the years. I have also found that Japanese carbs seldom turn out when rebuilt.

Sometime the engine will turn over fine but, not

Listen for 2 to 3 second prime on fuel pump when the key is turned to the on position. Make sure every thing is as quiet as possible when doing this. also it may take several tries to hear it so make sure you wait at least 10-15 seconds before each try . the fuel-pump should also run while cranking. Do this and re-post and we'll take ti from there!--thanks

91 four door civic distributor problem doubt.

It is very possible that the lock down bolt, which allows adjustment of timing, has come loose. Re-set timing and tighten down bolt.
Also the rotor button screw may have fallen out allowing the button to turn. Pull the distributor cap to check.
