I have a 1994 ford mustang 3.8 v6, when i bought the car it had a slite misfire,i bought a new coil pack, changed the plugs and wires, I hooked up the coed reader and it pulled up P0302. cylinder number 2 missfire,i pulled the spark plug out in the number 2 cylinder and hooked it up to the plug wire and grounded it,i cranked the car over and i got spark in number 2,im all out of ideas, can u help?

I would move no3 injector to another cylinder and see if the fault moved . If not the problem is in the injector wires or ECM plug If it moved I would consider a new injector .

Have you run a compression check on that cylinder? Have you verified the fuel injector is working?

Many times the plugs and wires are cancelled out with the coil pak.
change all of them, you will be glad you did.
The ignition coil pack is a crucial part of your ignition system. It's function is to convert the 12 volt power of your vehicle's electrical system in to 35,000 or more volts. This produces a high intensity spark at the spark plug which then ignites the fuel in the cylinder. Coils in general will wear out over time and cause a misfire condition. In engines like this that use a coil pack, if one coil goes bad, the complete assembly needs to be replaced. PLEZE LET ME KNOW. there isn't anything else.

I believe the Mustang has 3 coils for a V6, and 4 for a V8, each coil controlling two cylinders. First you need to check and find which two plugs are misfiring, and if they go to the same plugs. It may be that more than one coil is defective and the coil pack needs replacing. With the vehicle running pull one spark plug wire at a time to find the missing cylinders. If the engine slows or starts running rough, that cylinder is firing, if you pull the wire and there is no change you have found your missing cylinder, from there trace the wire back to see which coil it plugs into. Also, make sure your plug wires are not touching each other and are in the spacers the factory installed. If you still can not find the problem it may be in the main computer. Most autoparts will run a diagnostic check for free.

You either have a bad coil pack or low compression in the cylinder. Do a compression test to verify.

Replace the Coil.

ford had 3.8 engines one with distributor cap .and one with distributorless.so if you got distributor engine change distributor cap and rotor spark plugs and wires.also coil.if you got distributorless change plugs and wires .replace coil packs if they have alot of miles on them.replace fuel and air filter.also run good gas.like exxon -shell -marathon - texoco- good gas make car run better.

Change the coil that's the only thing you did not change and a coil if it's weak will cause a miss fire. You can do a compression check on #3 also. If timing was out the truck would be missing like crazy. Change the coil pack.
