Daughter has 1998 beetle, no owners manual the radio is in the safe mode and not coming on vin 3vwbb61c61c6wm010615, how do i get this to work?

Hello Camille, you will need the code for the radio, if you don't have it, look in the trunk, VW likes to hide them in there, under the spare tire. If you can't find it, you will have to get it from the dealer per VIN number. Once you have the code follow this procedure.

1: Turn on the radio, "SAFE" will appear in the display
2: After 3 seconds, the number 1000 will appear in the display.
3: Use the radio station preset buttons 1 to 4 to enter the code number for your radio. Use preset button 1 to enter the first digit in the code number. Use button 2 to enter the second digit, etc. The value range for each of the 4 digits is "0...9". The digit will increase by 1 each time you tap the preset button. The number returns to "0" after "9".
4: After you finish entering the code, press the right side (">") of the SEEK button 10 for longer than 2 seconds until you hear an audible signal.
5: if you`ve entered the code number correctly, "LSM" will appear in the display.
6: Now you are ready to use the radio again.

I hope this information is helpful.

Battery went dead radio security kicked in and i don't have the code

I'm hoping that you are in the states, because I have a free stateside number that you can call. Here are a full set of instructions to get you sorted out:

If it says "OFF" turn the key to ACC for 5 minutes with the radio on, and displaying "OFF". After 5 minutes the radio will turn itself off. Turn the key off then back on again. The radio should now display "CODE". If this doesn't work disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, and repeat the 5 minutes radio on displaying "OFF" with key in ACC until the radio turns itself off. Now that it says "CODE" go to step 2. The radio must display "CODE" to enter unlock code.

  • 2 Find the radio serial number The radio's serial number is on the left side of the case that is inside the dashboard. You will have to remove the fascia that is around the radio carefully to reveal it. In most models you can use a small dental style mirror to see the code without completely removing the radio. If you can't see it this way you will have to take it all the way out. Don't disconnect anything just pull it out far enough to see the numbers. The model number starts with MNxxxxx, this is not the number you need. The serial will be an 8 digit number, no letters. It will be close to the model number however.
  • 3 Now that you have your serial number call Mitsubishi Motors of North America at 1-888-648-7820, M-F 7am - 4pm Pacific time. They will give you your unlock code for free.
  • 4 Now that you have your unlock code you have to enter it into your radio. They should take you through this on the phone, however, here's how:

  • The 1,2,3,4 preset buttons on your radio toggle up only through the digits 0-9. The 1 preset button is the first digit holder, and so on for the 4 digit code. If you go too far just keep pressing the button, and it will go back to 0, and you can get back to the right number. If your unlock code has a 0 in it you have to press the button once to get to 0. It starts with a dash (-). This doesn't count as the 0. For instance if your unlock code is 0873, you will press preset 1 once, preset 2 9x, preset 3 8x, and preset 4 4x. Once you have the correct number in the diplay press the "CD" button, and it will unlock your radio. If you didn't do it right, it will display "ERR1" before going back to the "CODE" display. Don't mess up more than twice. After the third failed try things get a lot more complicated!

    I just couldn't find a code for my stereo Acura tl 2000 my s/n B90762702,please i need a help?

The 5-digit radio code is printed on a plastic card, that is inserted in a slot inside the front cover of your user's manual. I have also read that it is SOMETIMES printed under the hood of the car as well (although not on mine). If you don't have ANY of the above, you'll have to see a dealer.

When you start the car, and the radio says CODE, all you do is key in the code numbers using
the radio presets buttons numbered 1-6 below the display.

Multi disc cd player stopped working..the screen reads disc checking, but will not play or eject the discs...ironically this happened about the same time we had a new battery installed..the radio part...

Figure out what fuse controls the CD player and, with no key in the ignition, pull the fuse out for a minute (or more - I've seen TSBs that say leave the fuse out for 10 minutes), then replace it (theory being that the fuse acts as a reset button). If you cannot find the fuse, you can disconnect the negative battery cable, but you'll lose your radio presets and other settings. Make sure you have any codes for your radio that may be required since disconnecting the battery cables can cause the radio to quit working too. This fuse trick seems to have the greatest chance of success overall. Check your owner's manual - you may have more than one fuse that controls the CD and/or the radio and you may need to remove all the related fuses.

How to enter radio code for 1995 bmw525i (after replacing battery)

If you know the 5 digit code you can use the preset buttons for number entry - press the corresponding number on the preset buttons and you should hear a beep if successful.

If you don't know the code, your local BMW dealership can help by giving them the car's VIN number.
