My 2001 GMC Sierra just made a 600 mile trip. The next morning, the truck wouldn't start (full tank of gas). Replaced the fuel filter, banged on the gas tank. Tried to start the engine again, engine started but then sputtered and die (like it would if you ran out of gas). Replaced the fuel pump. No change...still starts but then sputters and dies. Any suggestions?

When your replaced the pump did you replace the fuel filter? You may have a fuel pump relay causing you some grief. I believe it is located in the engine compartment in the fuse center on the left inner fender. Check the relay and any related fuses. Check the electrical connection at the pump. They had problems with some of them and they would get kind of hot and distort and corrode. They have new updated ones that can be easily installed.

My 2001 GMC sierra 2500 starts up but will not stay running and its throwing a light in the message center. What's my problem and how can I quick fix it to get it home??

What light is on? Possible fuel pump failure causing it to not stay running. Sometimes banging on the bottom of the fuel tank will excite the fuel pump into working. If banging on the tank makes the vehicle stay running, suspect a fuel pump problem and it will have to be replaced

2000 gmc Sierra starts but stalls

Check the fuel pressure while its running. It sounds like the fuel filter is stopping up. Fuel filter should be changed every 50 thousand miles or so. If the filter is bad it won't be long until the fuel pump has to be replaced (located inside the fuel tank)! It's a lot easier to replace the filter before the pump is damaged!

Gas gague not working in 93 gmc sierra

The fuel level gage sending unit is defective, very common problem. The sending unit comes with a new fuel pump and is referred to as a module, also make darn sure you replace the fuel pump connector at the fuel tank, solder and shrink tube the new connector on, DO NOT USE CRIMP CONNECTORS.

Whers is the gas filter 1999 gmc sierra truck

The fuel filter is about a foot away from the fuel tank on the driver's side of your truck. Just follow the fuel line from the gas tank. It is an inline filter about 4 inch long cylinder about 2-3 inches thick.
