Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. This is a hard solution to point out because it could be a power surge from something. A idle control sensor or map sensor can cause it to spike. You may need an idle adjustment. If you have a check engine light on, take it to Autozone and have it scanned. If not, your best bet is having it put on a diagnostic machine instead of throwing money away on parts you don't need.

starting on very cold mornings ,the engine will run at high rpms (just like you have a choke on) and then will after a minute or two return to idle rpms( most cars is around 850-900)
If you have a hydraulic clutch and you have never changed the fluid then I suggest that you have it done as the fluid is probably freezing the water content in it ( brake fluid is hygroscopic-- attracts moisture from the air)
Check the linkage adjustments for dirt and other foreign objects stopping full movement or if the lever is direct into the top of the box then check the gear lever pivot at the top of the box for loose or adjustment.
If you have a cable clutch ,consider replacing the cable.

Yo, Codi. Your problem is a bad EGR diaphragm. It's a bad vacuum leak making it do what you've explained. Replace the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve and this won't happen any more. Good power on demand.

Car idels fine. stalls when you give it gas. changed o2 sensor, tp sensor, map sensor, and iac sensor. fuel pump and filter are new also. no vacume leaks. any ideas?

Items you should check are the EGR valve, unplug the electrial connector, which will disable it and see what happens. The other is the fuel pressure regulator, the best way is a pressure gage. You can also do a basic check by finding the RETURN line and crimp the rubber part closed with a suitable tool that won't damage it [ a pair of needle nose visegrips with some fuel line over the prongs works ], If it takes gas- then the regulator is faulty and needs to be replaced.

I have a 1995 Buick Regal with a 3.8 V6. Car will start just fine on a cold start but will not continue to run unless you hold the engine on at least 3000 rpms for about 30 seconds. it will then idle just...

i think you might be right it sounds like your engine is getting over fed fuel you are probably not getting very good fuel mileage either the 3.8 and 5.0 would defintely require the same volume of fuel it is probably playing havoc on the pressure regulators i would get another fuel pump and start there

try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes or so, press the brake pedal with the battery disconnected. after 5 minutes reconnect the battery and start the car, DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE/ gas pedal for about 5 minutes. perhaps this will recalibrate the computer. good luck, hope this helps

Problem with my idling?

It could be the throttle or idel control sensor. These sensors bring the car to the proper rpm it needs when you are slowing or stopping.
