This is just a traction control light.....If one wheel out spins the other it will make it come on at times ..You need a scan tool but you can disconnect the negative battery cable for 20 seconds and the light will go off......If it comes on again you will have to change wheel speed sensor...This is common with all vehicles with Traction control and ABS...Have it checked for saftey reasons...
But it happens with a lot of them.........Sensor replacement is normally what you have to do.
Sometimes battery disconnect works....You will have to reset clock.
Hope this helps..........................Metalpoet

My 2001 astro van emergency light and abs light come on at the same time ,sometimes any one knows why thanks

They only come on sometimes ?
Brake Warning Indicator
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the brake warning indicator when the following occurs:
?€¢
The body control module (BCM) detects that the park brake is engaged. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the BCM requesting illumination.

?€¢
The EBCM detects a low brake fluid condition and sends a class 2 message to the IPC.

?€¢
The IPC performs the bulb check.

?€¢
An ABS-disabling malfunction also disables dynamic rear proportioning (DRP).

ABS Indicator
The IPC illuminates the ABS indicator when the following occurs:
?€¢
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects an ABS-disabling malfunction. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination.

?€¢
The IPC performs the bulb check.

?€¢
The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communications with the EBCM.

sounds like you have an intermittent problem for now ! a wiring issue or wheel speed sensor going bad. Need to check for codes in abs module , that will give you an Idea where to look first. These systems can set a lot of codes, component codes , wiring codes etc... need to know what code first.

Why is my abs ans ets light on What does it mean

The most probable cause for the ETS (Electronic Traction Control System) light is the ABS light. When there is a problem in the ABS, ETS is disabled.

The ETS uses ABS data to help control the ETS system. You will need to have the ABS computer scanned for codes.

This light usually comes on if you have a failed wheel speed sensor but these vehicles are common for the ABS module to fail causing the same problem. You can back probe the wires comming out of each wheel speed sensor with the wheel lifted in the air and check for ac voltage as you spin the wheel.

What ever sensor does not put out voltage needs to be replaced if they all seeem to work it is likely the ABS module. But before you replace any parts you would want to have the ABS module checked for codes at one of your local shops that has a high end scan tool that can access those codes.

Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

I have an abs/ets fault, i am trying to locate the relay on e230 avantgarde estate petrol

dont think it will be relay, more like an electrical fault with a pressure sensor switch or the motor that pressurises the system .This will throw out the computer on the vehicle and too find the fault will require merc software because this is regarded as safety and therefore its encrypted.

ABS / ETS lamp on dishboard appear to my mercedes E320 96

Have your brake pads and rotors checked if you have worn pads this will activate the ABS Antilock Braking System light. The ETS Electronic Traction System uses this ABS to prevent skidding if the tires should lose traction.

ETS light stay on all the time.

ABS--BAS--ESP
The Electronic Traction System uses you ABS tu assist in stability

Most likely cause is the 'stop lamp switch'
It is a electric switch located on the brake pedal inside the car, about half way up on the brake pedal.
Pretty cheap too, I think the switch is only like $25 bucks.
2 connectors on the switch and then it turns out.
hope that helps

Both the ABS BAS&ASR lights keep coming up

Replace the brakeswitch. Be sure to use factory parts, they are very sensitive and aftermarkets may not work.
