I have a 1999 Lexus LS-400. Appears to have charging problems (ABS, VSC, & Battery lights on). While running if I disconnect red terminal, car remains running (alternator). Starter checked was OK. Battery was leaking an oily/acid fluid from water fills, Pep Boys replaced battery under warranty and continues this on new battery. Battery charge is being drained if I don't disconnect terminals at night. Any troubleshoots appreciated. Thank you. Pat Nangle

What do the letters vsc mean on the dash

Is you vsc light on by itself, or is it on with a Check Engine Light as well. If it is just the VSC light then you need a Zero-Point calibration. This is supposed to be only done at a toyota/lexus dealer. They take out the VSC computer and run their diagnostics program and reset and configure(calibrate) your vehicles VSC. I personally would disconnect both battery terminals for at least an hour, even better overnight, this should allow enough time to have all the electricity drain completely from those computers. Hopefully this would reset everything. I would try this before going to the dealer, try to save some money. If it is the VSC and CEL(Check Engine Light), then you would have to get the codes read at AutoZone....they do this for free unlike the dealer and then post your codes up on this forum. Hope this helps.

The vsc light is on

VSC (Vehicle Stability System) Sound like a problem with the ABS system, scanned with some reader code to know exactly which code stored there.

ABS light, VSC light, and battery light all came on at the same time. VSC light is an easy reset, but it appears vehicle is running off battery charge only. I had battery checked, and it is 1-year old...

Your alternator has to produce at least 13.1 volts to recharge the battery. If less is produced then possible causes are alternator, wiring, fuse, drive belt. Your ABS and VSC modules will self protect and shut down when low voltage is detected. Repair the charging problem and the warning lights will be sorted too.

Vsc and check engine lights keep coming on can reset but keep coming back on

Disconnect the battery over night then hook up the next morning and it will reset it. This was the problem I had and it works.

99 LS400, VSC light goes on intermittently on start up.

Doubtful it's an intermittent electrical problem. Far more likely you've got a wheel speed sensor issue. Since VSC gets all it's information from the ABS system, start by pulling the trouble codes. I bet you'll see an ABS code. Read this post

VSC/ Check Engine Light

My 2000 Lexus GS 400 just had the VSC/VSC off light and the check engine light come on. I would have to push the accelarator peddle all the way down to get it to go. Took it to the Toyota dealer and the code pulled up as the Throttle Position Sensor was out. Purchased one and having it put in. Will update if this fixes the problem.
