It is a known issue with Mark VIII's, second generations-there are numerous posts on Lincoln.org and tech articles covering this, and people who have them tend to disable working systems so that they don't break.

Rear drums. which way do the slack adjusters go so they work properly. 1998 sunfire.

the brake adjuster wheels are closest to the rear brake shoe.as you adjust the adjuster wheel it should rotate in one direction only and the brakes should move outward towards the drum and is stopped when trying to turn the wheel in the opposite direction by the bar that is to stop it from rotating in the wrong direction.

How do i adjusting steering box 1998 ford ranger

Your steering adjustments are in your tie rod end adjustment. Bring it to an alinment shop and they could straiten your wheel by putting an alinment on it. it is realy difficult to do this if you have not done this you might be able to pull the steering wheel off with the wheels straight and reposition it on the steering spindle you will need a steering wheel puller to do this.

1996 camry le 6 cylinder. cannot get ignition key to turn to start car. gear is in park and have tried adjusting steering wheel

Hi the steering lock could be causing you the problem try turning the steering wheel hard left whilst turning the key and do the same hard right.

it may be hard to turn but you should find once you have moved it slightly it will unlock allowing you to turn the key so dont adjust the steering wheel turn it to the right as if your trying to turn to the right and if this dont let the key turn turn the wheel to the left it only needs to move slightly to allow the steering lock to free the key,

doing the above should solve you problem

give me a shout back if you have any further problems ok

1998 lincoln mark viii steering wheel dont return

the first thing to do is to make sure the steering is not binding up,like a balljoint or tierod , un hook the tierods and feel the turn of the wheel at the wheel not the steering wheel, make sure its not thight do the same on the other side, also take a good look at the shaft going to steering gear, ive found that the ujoints rust up and bind, causes wheel not to return, it could also be a leaking rack internally, start there, good luck.

I cant find the stick to check power steering levels

If you mean the fluid level in the power steering container ,it's marked on the power steering fluid container under the hood (min - max). There's no stick like the engine oil measuring stick. Keep the level at 'max' and you'll have no problems.

It would appear that the relay is misfunctioning. Try swapping one from nearby and when your car won't start but your seats operate then you'll know what to do. THanks, Dana

Sloppy steering 96 Ford Bronco

You need to check all of you front steering components have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth. While you lay on the ground check all joints and components for play then check your steering shaft under the hood see how far steering wheel moves to each directions to when your tires start to move your gearbox has an adjustment on it that can be adjusted it looks like a screw with a nut at the bottom loosen nut a few turns and hold it with a wrench then take screwdriver and turn screw about 1/4 keep checking wheel for play you can tighten to much so keep checking that wheel turns back when you let go if you have any loose joints undernieth replace that part

Electric steering wheel adjustment not working - Reach/Rake

The noise you can hear is the motors still working but the worm nut has broken inside the steering column. The motors still work with the memory system you have but they are not moving the wheel as the worms are still turning but the nut which is attached to the steering column will be floating. Remove covers and check this before you order the new parts as i am informed that a full column is required in order to replace this little part. As it in no way affects the actual steering of the wheels you may be able to repair this without going to major expence. Hope this helps. The same happened with mine but i just wedged the steering in one place and left it. Its been two years now and i can still hear the two motors working every time i put in the ignition key but without the steering wheel adjustment. Ask yourself do you really need it
