When I turn the corner or turn the steering wheel, my car makes a loud humming noise, what is that noise and how do I get rid of it?

Does it change with vehicle speed or engine rpm?

vehicle speed: check wheel bearings lift vehicle and support it with jack stands grab the wheel at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions( to rule out steering linkage play) and wiggle in and out. A bad bearing that loud will have some play.

Does the humming noise reduce or change in pitch slightly when turning a corner?
Most likely a wheel bearing failure. Also, when one wheel bearing on one side fails, the other is not often far behind. I often therefore replace in pairs.

If the noise is coming from the engine compartment then you may just be low on steering fluid.

Can you describe where the noise is coming from and what it sounds like?

Is is more of a grinding, or more of a whining or humming?

Possible. If you have changed tires lately, make sure they put the right size tires on. If they went up in size by any measure, it could be rubbing on the tire well and thus making the noise. Check the users manual if you have it and check to make sure the tire sizes are correct. Also check your power steering fluid. That would make a humming or moaning noise but it would be noticeable while turning.

Most likely this is your power steering pump - check the fluid and listen again.

The ford power steering pumps are known for a loud noise and even new ones make plenty of noise - especially when you turn the wheels. Keeping them full of fluid helps them be a little quieter.

you may need a new serpentine belt, or you should make sure you check the power steering fluid... also you may need to replace the belt tentioner pulley...

Could be either a loose belt or you are low on power steering fluid,or the power steering pump could just be worn out.

Could be one of three things: Low on power steering fluid loose belt do to a weak belt tensioner or the power steering pump itself.

this is either a loose belt, or low power steering fluid. Remember that Honda uses a diffrent power steering fluid from everyone else. Make sure it is a Honda compatable fluid, or you will get leaks.
