Code P0793 in 2008 Toyota Camry

It is not safe to assume that replacing the intermediate shaft sensor will fix the issue, as the check engine light can be caused by a wide variety of problems. It is best to use a code reader to retrieve the specific diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that is causing the check engine light to come on. This code will give you a better idea of what the problem is and what parts may need to be replaced. You can then use this information to determine the best course of action for repairing the vehicle.

The check engine light and VSC light came on in my 2005 highlander. 168,000 miles

P0420 & P0430 You need new catalytic converter
The P0430 check engine light code, like P0420, means the catalyst system efficiency is below the required threshold. Simply put, this means your car is adding more pollution into the air than it's supposed to.

1994-4cyl.Camry(Cali)/auto/199,999 miles seems like an EFI problem. Engine will shut off while driving, feels like it's running out of fuel. Replaced EFI relay under the hood, ran for 2 weeks and now...

"Distributor issue"??? Thats very vague.
Go here,
extreme-check-engine-light-codes.com
and there should be an explaination on how to get the codes yourself. Or get the exact code or codes from Goodrich and come back here and let me know what it is.
Most auto parts stores will check for codes for free. They may or may not do pre OBD II cars. Worth a try.

2005 toyota camry lost transmission at 45,000 miles and 6 mo. out of warranty. How much should a new transmission cost? Shouldn't Toyota cover this at such an early date

With just 45,000 miles, it shouldn't of went out this early. It just depends where you buy them and if you buy them new or used. You can get used ones for a few hundred dollars. A new one is going to be around 1000 I would say. Like I said, it may be a little more or a little less. Everybody charges different prices. I would call and make sure there is not a recall on the tranny for that year. It can't hurt.

I have p0420 on my 06 pont gp gt. it mostly comes on after I slow down after highway

Here is the trouble tree for that code it is most likely a bad cat but follow the trouble tree to see where it lead's you.
DTC P0420 or P0430

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. See: Testing and Inspection\Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview\Diagnostic Starting Point - Vehicle
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

DTC Descriptors

DTC P0420

* Catalyst System Low Efficiency Bank 1

Important: A new converter with less than 100 miles on it may set DTC P0420 or P0430 due to out-******* of the internal matting. Operating the vehicle at highway speeds for approximately 1 hour may correct the condition. Hope this helps

My 2007 Toyota Camry just hit 45,000 miles and my check engine light came on. Would regular maintenace needed cause the light to come on? What should I / could I expect when I take it in?

I do believe there is a difference between a maintenance light and a check engine light. You can take your vehicle to most parts suppliers (auto zone, pep boys) and they will check your computer codes for free.

Engine light came on. The dealership said it was diagnostic code P0420 and that it would cost @ $1,200.00 to repair. This seem pretty high. What is this diagnostic code about and is the repair rate

Hi, this code represents a Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1). and the repair, considering that it will be repaired by the dealership, seems to be in the normal cost range. The labor is what usually inflates the price when dealing with catalytic replacements.

You could probably get a better deal by taking it to a non dealership type of repair shop. This may cut at least 200 dollars of the original dealership quote.

Please rate and god bless:)

2003 toyota camry

P0420 is a cat code. Sometimes, you can replace the upstream & downstream air/fuel & O2 sensors, run some good fuel injection cleaner thru it, and that might fix the problem. If not, you may need to replace the cat. Note that the cat is covered under warranty for 8 yrs/80,000 miles. Toyota will replace it if it has gone bad, for free.
