The normal idle speed for almost every car is about 7500 to 8000. I'm not sure if you would or not, but if you have performance parts on it them i would stick a little over 8000 but around 7500 is the best idle speed to have.

My 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix will not idle

the computer probably need to relearn the idle-try driving the car for 20-30 minutes,i u can. if that doesnt work, try keeping the car in drive at idle speed if possible without touching the gas pedal-even though it might stall, see if eventually the idle will raise up on its own.hope this helps you.

2006 pontiac Grand Prix stalls in wet weather

A cause for that would be an oxygen sensor getting wet, the one on the inlet side of the catalytic converter.

1998 Pontiac Grand AM GT motor revs

it would not be an O2 sensor, period, they would never cause a high idle, have u had this checked for trouble codes? A sticking idle speed control air bypass can cause this problem as well as a throttle position sensor, but run the codes, Kragen does it for free was well as other parts stores.
