2006 Ford Taurus-35K miles. When engine is cold, loud pop occurs when putting into gear (D & R). Sounds like frame flex or strut housing shift from engine torque? Also, whine at rear when rolling at higher speeds. Previous tires and new ones make no difference. At low speeds, struts in rear are noisy when going over jagged bumps in road. Dealer claims all noises are normal and can't claim to duplicate "pop" noise, but, of course, it did it for me immediately upon picking it up.

SOURCE: 93 Camry strut replacement.

If you plan on keeping the car, it's always a good idea to replace the seats/bearings when you do the struts - having to replace them afer is a pain. If you mean should you replace the strut lower bushings, yes, definitely.

Hope this helps :)

Not that I know of the only thing I know of is to take it to either a body shop or a welder and have a plate welded into place. How old is the escort, it may not be worth the cost. How is the rest of the car rust wise?

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

Also i suggest you to refer these gear shift issues, which are mostly noticed. These are direct links with appropriate solutions to the specific problems of gear ****.

My 1999 ford expidition sounds like its shifting in overdrive when i reach about 40 miles per hour, the engine gets loud sounds a jet taking off.

You have it backwards

What you hear is engine noise from
higher rpm, because your trans is not
upshifting, as a result of your input on
the gas pedal

You need to have a trans or repair shop find out why
you have a delayed or no shift condition

When you get to 4th or 5th gear (overdrive) you also
get torque converter lock-up & things should get quieter

Rough idle, engine is vibrating and when it is put

Possible but highly unlikely. Sounds like a dead miss.

Loud noise in rear of car. sounds like a loose 2003 ford taurus

it is quite possible that you have a bad strut mount, noticeable by rubber moving from metal, or a leaking strut, looking at the strut you would see hydraulic fluid on it. also sometimes removal and disassembly is the only way to tell. also you could check for bad sway bar links or bushings. hope this helps

What do you mean by loud... Loud where??? If noise is from engine, make sure that the mechanical fan clutch is not "locked" (it's supposed to freewheel when cold... if it does not, it will "roar" when driving.

Difficulty shifting, especially into 2nd gear

sounds like you have air in your hydrolic portion of your clutch system, you need to see if your slave cylnder or your clutch master cylnder is leaking fluid putting air in your system. If the case is that you have just a hard to get in gear such as only 2nd then i would have suspected your secronizer ring being bad. or if all gears seem to be hard cold then you would either have a leaking hydrolic cylnder or the wrong fluid in trans.

Front end popping or clicking when driving over dips in the road, could it be the front end struts?

Had a similar issue.  Tie Rods were loose.  I had 35K miles on it and the dealership replaced them under warranty.
