Hyundai error report P0441 when check engine light comes on. Is this something covered under warranty at dealer, or should I have an independent mechanic look at it? Also, door latch that opens the gas tank door does not work all the time. Would this be part of the problem? I know check engine light can come on if gas cap is not seated well.

Yes this is a warranty item as it relates to the emission purge system ( pressure test for gas tank ). but before you go make sure your gas cap is tight (3 clicks) sometimes after getting fuel a loose gas cap will trip the purge solenoid valve to think there is a leak.

P0601 internal controller malfunction

Isnt good; the bad news is, this is an internal failure. Sometimes you can clear the code and it won't return. But most of the time you need to replace the PCM. Something inside the logic get garbled and throws that code.

Good news...the PCM is an emissions related component. I believe it is covered under warranty for 8 years or 80,000 miles. Check with your dealer. Just like catalytic converters and such.

P0601 - Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error
Basically that means that there is an interal fault in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). There have been many reported PCM failures on Chrysler/Dodge products although it is possible for this to happen on any vehicle. In Dodge/Chrysler products, a P0601 trouble code means that a serial communication failed inside the computer at least 6 times.

Likely, no symptoms will be discernible to the driver, other than the illuminated Check Engine Light. Typically the engine runs fine, gauges work, etc.

Causes: A code P0601 in most cases means the PCM has gone bad. This is possibly due to a short-circuit inside the PCM. Or, if you disconnect the wires/connector from the PCM while the battery is still connected, that may also cause this code.

Possible Solutions: With a P0601 OBD-II trouble code, the most common fix is to replace and reprogram the PCM. In a few cases the dealer may be able to reflash the PCM and get it working. But more than likely the PCM will need to be replaced and reprogrammed (we recommend you take it to a dealership for this). The good news is it *may* be covered under your emmissions warranty. So even if you're out of bumper-to-bumper warranty or powertrain warranty, check your warranty guide or dealer to see if this is covered.

Other people have reported that they cleared the code only for it to return again and again. Keep in mind that most shops can replace the PCM but not all can program it.

Hope this helps (remember to rating this answer and leave some testimonial comment).

Despite all kinds of repairs and valve adjustments, check engine light comes on if care idles for more that one minute, Car has been to dealer for repair more than 30 times in last year. They have...

If the check engine light is on it is a sensor or something that reports to the ECM that is causing the problem. Next time the light comes on check the code by stopping at auto zone who will read it for free. That will tell you what to replace. Being that it has been to the dealer that many times in a 1 year period it sounds like they are trying to avoid replacing the ECM unit by now they should have replaced every sensor in the vehicle. Adjusting the valves isn't going to help you with this problem. There is no direct sensor that reports valve problems except the Cam Sensor and that reports the position of the cam to maintain timing. If the light is coming on because you are losing timing that often the Cam Sensor or Crank Sensor is faulty or the timing belt needs replaced. If this was the dealer you purchased the vehicle from and it was under warranty that first year you should have had them take it back under the Lemon Law after the 3rd trip. I would find another Dealer to take it to and see what they say.

PO441 code from autozone for check engine light

There are several potential (possible) causes for this code (Checking output signals from fuel tank pressure sensor under evap.system test, if fuel tank's vacuum is higher than prescribed threshold, PCM sets P0441.

1. The fuel tank pressure sensor sends a signal (voltage signal) to the PCM (Powertrain Controm Module) when it performs a diagnostic test of the Evaporative Emissions System (EVAP).

Frequent Causes:

If this sensor (DPS - Differential Pressure Sensor (fuel tank pressure sensor) is telling a lie (wrong/erratice voltage signals) to the PCM, it could cause this code, P0441, to set.

Also, if the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV) is not operating properly (i.e., stuck open), it can also set P0441.

Finally, if the EVAP charcoal canister filter is clogged causing a restriction in the purge air flow, it can also set P0441 (rare, most often, if the filter is restricted, the PCM will set a different code (i.e. P2422 - Emission System Vent valve stuck closed).

The most probable cause is the PCSV (Purge Control Solenoid Valve).-- seen it very often. This does not mean you should start throwing money after parts until you get lucky and find it the expensive way.

Your problem may still be under warranty repair coverage - check with your nearest Hyundai Dealership & ask the appropriate questions. They'll tell you if your issue is still covered under warranty.

Hope this helps.

Hyundai Sonata 2006 - Check Engine light came on.

"Fuel system too lean at idle". It's an air/fuel ratio that is not correct, possibly a vacuum leak somewhere. Or a leaky exhaust pipe. Could be related to intake manifold gasket. Somewhere, air is getting into the engine.

I suggest taking it back to the dealer under warranty. I think Hyundai is 10yr./100k for the original owner. 5yr./50k if not. Ask first if covered, and ask why not id not covered.

Check engine light on newly purchased suzuki forenza 06

Sounds like an intermittend problem. Once the engine light comes on, the computor stores a code in it and can be retrieved whether the light is on or not, called a pending code, I have done it plenty of times.I would take the car back, or to another dealer and tell them to hook up a code scanner to it.It's under warranty, they should do further testing.
Once the warranty runs out, you are on your own, you pay for what ever is wrong, and can be expensive.
