Yes i have a 96 chevy lumina i changed the plugs and i think i may have switch the wires but dont know where they go directly

From standing in front of car and facing engine:

3.1L and 3.4L OHV V-6: The cylinder location is from left to right (rear cylinders) 1,3,5
(front cylinders)2,4,6

The coil terminals from left to right: 5,2,3,6,4,1
Firing order 1,2,3,4,5,6

The firing order on this motor is (1,2,3,4,5,6). If standing in front of the car looking at the motor, the back side from left to right is (1, 3, 5) cylinders. Front row from left to right is (2, 4, 6) cylinders. The coil pack should have numbers on it by the plug wire representing the cylinder to where it goes. Just match them up #1 wire to #1 cylinder. #2 wire to #2 cylinder and so on. It may require a flash light to see the numbers on the coil pack. Good luck, hope this helps.

They are not interchangeable. Can they be made to work, maybe. But they are not a direct replacement.

They show a 5031 as being used in both model years. To change it though you have to pull the steering wheel off. This means special tools etc.

I have 99 chevy lumina and i just received a 96 chevy is it possible to put the motor from 99 lumina in the 96 lumina the only difference is the dash is different

the engine block is the same but their are some changes such as sensors ---computer software -and in 1999 chevys been using dex cool the red coolant verses the green they are not compatible would need to do a flush before using engine but since you have a donor car should be able to do a swap just make sure you grab all and correct electronics with it

1990 chevy lumina, idling problem... to rich.... stalling......

check egr valve for vacuum leak. pull hose from manifold. put hose in your mouth like a straw and **** on it. if the valve moves, then it's good. if it doesn't, you need a new egr valve. WARNING, they are fricking expensive! auto zone price $204. NO JOKE

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. -96 vehicles, remove the driver's side instrument panel sound insulator panel.
  2. Detach the switch electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the switch from the brake pedal bracket.

To install:
  1. Position the switch to the brake pedal bracket.
  2. Attach the electrical connectors.
  3. If removed, install the driver's side instrument panel sound insulator panel.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

1995 lumina cranks but will not start

Does it have the anti-theft system, if so check for the two wires that go to the ignition switch and make sure they are not broken. If they are they will need to be fixed in order to get it too run again
