1997 GMC Safari van randomly stalls then is fine? It even does it when I have a full tank of gas. I just had the feul filter replaced because apparently it was plugged, yet it still stalls randomly. Sometimes it'll stall immediately after I start it up (10 seconds), sometimes it's 5 minutes, sometimes it's 2 hours, and sometimes it won't stall at all. Just sent it to a mechanic (got it towed there actually because it stalled on me on the highway in rush-hour) and it was stalling like it normally does, then randomly they couldn't get it to stall. Any ideas? No one has any idea what's going on. And it always starts up just fine. It's not a battery issue or a coil issue.. I'm baffled.

I had a problem just like that on my blazer and it turned out to be the wire harness on the fuel injectors. It could also be your fuel injectors, had to replce mine at 85000

maybe your iac valve is not working? it takes place of a choke or temp sender to computer could be bad which controls t I.A.C. known as the idle control valve,do you have any codes?

when you shut the truck off is/was there a swishing/bubbling noise coming from the tank?

Theres an orange rubber in the fuel tank that connects the fuel pump to the sender lines. if that rubber is torn you may get it to run but not stay running for more than a short period of time.

car shuts off when driving for a while,this could be a bad crank sensor. but the sensor should set a problem code, have car scanned. if you do not have a scanner, any auto parts place will scan for free.if car shuts off when driving down road then a bad crank sensor will cause this. good luck toolman,
