I have a 94 Eagle Talon ES with a 1.8 DOHC, 16 Valve, from a different vehicle (still a DSM) that is having problems starting when it's cold. I live in Wisconsin where temperatures can be very cold and need this thing to start every time. Problem: when the engine is cold, it will turn over but not fire. After about 5 min of trying to start it will finally give in and start for me. While the engine is still cold it will run very rough and will die if I let off the gas. Also if I don't feather the gas pedal it will bog down and kill the engine. Once the engine is warm it runs like a champ. What I've replaced: Fuel Regulator, Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Fuel Filter and recent oil change. I've sprayed starting fluid in the air intake while it was cold and it did fire, so I'm still thinking it's a fuel delivery problem. Any Ideas?

Check temp sensor for ecm. Some cars have two temp sensors. One for the dash gauge and one for the computer. The computer may not know its cold out.... the computer richens the air fuel for cold temps as needed for proper start.

SOURCE: 1995 eagle talon wont start

Hi

You did not specify if its petrol or Diesel I am assuming it is diesel. It might be the glow plugs. Get them checked as you will need these to get it started. If its petrol its a different issue. It might be the ignition coil (no spark) coming to the distributor. Whichever the type of car make sure that there is fuel coming to the engine. In the case of diesel you should have a primer rubber fuel pump which you press in order to bring fuel to the engine.

Hope this was of help to you :)
Thanks

SOURCE: 1993 Eagle Talon Tsi starts rough then dies off, bad timing?

First thing you can do to try a simple fix is replace each spark plug, check each plug for signs of fuel/air mixture

if your plug is black is rich, if ur plug is white is lean.

in this case repost your findings. in the mean time if they look golden or light brown, replace them and make sure they are gapped to ur level of psi you are running.

you can find the gap specs for how much boost you are running on most DSM websites or by searching.

1993 eagle talon es with 2.0 dohc engine and 5 speed manual transmission there are only 2 cylinders working 1 and 4 are good but 2 and 3 dont work wht can i do

So i think you have 2 ignition coil packs on your car, each one connects to 2 cylinders.
But i dont know what cylinders each one controls, but the coil connected to cylinders
2 and 3 may have gone bad. Thats where i would start. If you check and find out that
one coil pack connects to cylinders 2 and 3, remove the coil packs and switch their positions.

Reconnect the wires and see if then cylinders 2 and 3 work, and 1 and 4 dont. That would tell
you whether that coil pack is bad. Thats seems most likely to me.
