Stalls / Dies / dead

Just bought a 1991 Ford E150 Van. Driving home with the fuel selector on the front tank, it died, so switched to the rear tank and restarted and drove home (50 miles). No problems, ran fine. Next morning, started fine and drove 20 miles, shut the engine off for 5 Min., restarted, drove for one minute and died,...restarted and drove home OK. Replaced the front canister fuel filter last night...This morning it cranked for a while, then started...ran for a minute then died. Tried to restart but the starting action seemed rough and it never did catch hold. Any ideas??? Thanks Guys

The shut-off switch is probably mounted n the inside firewall just above your feet if you are sitting in the passenger seat. It is a black box about 4 inches long. Has a red button in the top off it. May also be in the passenger side kick panel on the right

To check if fuel pump find this plug under the hood on the right or left side. This plug has two pins on top and 4 pins on the bottom. Place a jumper wire between the top and bottom far right pins holding the plug with the two pins on top. Turn key on and go to back and see if pump is running. This by passes the fuel pump relay.

Why does my 1991 E150 dies while driving and restart and I can drive several days before it dies again ?

WHEN THE TANK CAP IS WORN THE AERATION IS BLOCKED; VACUUM IS BUILDING UP WHILE DRIVING UNTIL IT STOPS THE GAS FLOW. TRY TO RELEASE THE CAP OR CHANGE IT.

I've been told the fuel tank selector switch (in the cab) is bad on my 79 Ford E150 van. I have a new 2-pole switch, but since nothing is labeled I have no idea where to attach the wires from the old to...

yes these dash switches have allways been a problem the best way is to replace it with correct one from autoparts store but i usually replace tank selector valve at same time (there both about due) shield your eyes when dealing with this device as gas sprays out when removing it
a note : observe fuel level while driving on both switch posisitions the faulty one will indicate No fuel level when you know you got gas in both tanks

1989 e-150 i put gas in rear tank ends up in front tank isit the selector switch how do i bye pass te front tank

there is or was a TSB or Recall on this. It is a bad selector swtich I think.

Call a dealer with your VIN number and ask if there is an open recall for your van. Report back results.

No fuel guage readings, cant use front fuel tank vehicle stalls out, fuel coming out of front fuel tank cap when running,1988 ford e150

im thinking that this has dual tanks and one of the selonoids that switch the tanks have failed, Its the fuel coming out the cap that is tough. does it flow out the cap like its over full or is it just a couple splash drops like rain drop? does the other fuel tank read the same fill level while this is happening?? Cause the only way the front fuel tank can get full is if the fuel is being pumped into it by means of the fuel in the other tank. Now im not sure if they run return lines on that but if they did and the return line is near the cap i could understand the couple splash drops. Vehicle stalls on the front tank because the selonoid that opens and closes allowing fuel to be picked up to the motor is bad or the electrical switch or wiring is bad. selonoids are located under van close to the front of tank.

My 89 Ford F150 dies when I switch fuel tanks from rear to front tank, and now leaks gas some where in the area of the side front tank when Iam running on the rear tank.Where do I begin?

Does you truck restart after dying and then run ok or does it stay dead until switching back to the rear tank?
It could be that the front tank has a leak in the suction line which will leak when not in use and **** air when you switch to it.
A suction air leak could be the reason for it dying when switching tanks

Can find fuel switch for my 1991 ford f250

Can't find what? The switch valve? It has fuel pumps in each tank. You likely have a bad fuel pump in the rear tank.
