The cam in the wiper transmission is broken. This is usually a little plastic piece that connects one wiper to another. Lift the hood and pull the cowl (near the windshield) and you should see what I'm talking about. It is usually available at the dealer. The other possibility is that the nut connecting the wiper arm to linkage is loose. Check and tighten.

the linkage has popped off the back you need to get to it to push it back on ots possibly worn and needs replacing

look inside the grooves for screws, remove and cover comes up you will have to remove wiper arms also. first make sure the nut at the end of arm is not loose, that a common problem.

I believe this is a press fit connection. As Knight 007 writes, "it's worn out".

probably a salvage yard would be good for this part however you could put jbweld on it let it dry for at least a day and it will work again, if the arm doesn't have to come off to change wiper blades.. cheapest way to fix...
