I had the same problem but for some reason it started to work. I would like to know if the theft system can be turned off. In addition, will the same key work without it and can a second key without the chip be used. Thanks

my car is not equipped with this system -car will start but quickly stops

  • Anonymous Mar 29, 2014

There is a blinking red light in my keyless remote fob. It blinks only when I am sitting in the car with the keyless remote fob. So far, the car works fine and nothing seems to be affected.
Is this due to the keyless battery dying? What are the other possibilities??

HI, I'm reading your problem,
Let me explain something about your car.

2005 Ford Taurus, The key on that car has Chip inside of the key and receiver on the ignition switch,
Check if the key you are trying to use is Black and has a plastic head.
If not you need a key with that characteristics.
But if you have the right key, Remenber if you had drop on the floor, or hit with something,
Because some times they come damaged, with insignificat thins.
Remenber if you left the key close to a magnets like speakers.

If nothing aply at your case, you need to call a place Aloha Smith, they have the computer to program or reprogarm your key. IF not you can't start your car.

OK.. I hope this information work for you.

Thank's for submit yous question on fixya.com

Ok. If you have 2 keys for the car.

    And 2 remote control.

I guess the problem is not the Anti theft.

Because when the anti theft is activated the dome lights and cluster they don't blink. Only the Anti theft light.

    But let me ask you,

Your car has After market alarm?.

IF yes what kind of alarm is?

If the alarm is Clifford, you have a personal code?

(( If yes, you have 3 options, 1 Put your personal code, 2 remove the alarm, 3 see an alarm especialist shop.))

If you have any other alarm, and no personal code if is clifford.

Even if you don't know, if the car has aftermarket alarm.

1--- Try to locate the valet switch, normally is around the instrument panel or fuse box.

Some times is Push botton or On and Off botton.

    If you found it.

2-- Be sure the Battery is full charged.

3-- turn the key to on or run position.

4--Push the valet switch one time ( move to on or off)

5-- See if the dome light and the other lights stop flashing.

6 -- Try to start the car.

OK. IF you can find the the valet switch.

1-- Be sure the battery is full charged,

2 -- Turn the key to on position or run position.

3-- Put down the driver door window. Leave the key on run.

4 -- Disconnect the Battery for a least 1 minute.

    5 -- Connect the battery,

6-- Go try to start the vehicle.

OK. Let me know what happen ...................

    Thank's

My taurus wont start or even turn over battery connections all ok. my theft light is blinking faster than normal could this be a reason for not starting? if so what do i do or try? im frustrated......

yes the fast blinking theft light indicates that theft mode is activated. you wont be able to start the vehicle until you have the keys reprogrammed at your local ford dealer.

I tried to start my 2005 Ford taurus and after a spit second of attempting to turn over it shut down. I would have thought it was a dead battery (because that is how the car is acting) but when I push any...

Hello, The Ford systems are real sensitive to Battery fluctuations. You need a fully charged battery to start out with. If the battery is too low and the jump is removed, the car can stop charging.

Ford also made it to reduce the Voltage to the starter. If the battery is low, the Antitheft will reduce the battery voltage to 7 Volts or less.

There are also Relays in the Powerbox. The Ignition Relay may be bad. I understand that the Horn Relay is the same part and if you check the part numbers on the Relays you may be able to use the Horn Relay to get home.

A fully charged battery wil show 13.2-13.6 Volts. All of the Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicles can malfunction like this, so it just isn't your individual car. Your Battery is 5 years old and anything can happen.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

2001 ford taurus wont start and anti-theft light is blinking

Either you may be using a key that you had copied from the original or your chip went bad in your original key. Most of cars now a days have the key censor in the key so if it is the incorrect key it will not start your car or if it does not read that chip it will not start

Car still won't start

The taurus is equipped with what is called a PATS (passive anti theft) that wont let the car start until it recognizes the key in the ignition, some things to check, first when you put the key in and turn the car to run (not start) does the theft light blink fast in the dash or is there a red on light on the dash that starts blinking? if so it is a PATS problem, the only ones I know of that can program keys are dealers, if the car wont turn over it probably is not a fuel pressure issue, the most common thing would be the PATS keys either unprogrammed or somthing wrong with the module. hope this helps

THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM IN MY 2005 TAURUS WONT DISENGAGE

This is a long shot...I know but for what its worth....
The Taurus has in much the same lay-out as the European Ford (e.g the old Scorpio). You should find two large fuseboxes under the hood near to the windscreen (one each L/R). When driving in rain humidity enters these fuseboxes. This can give ANY funny combination of effects. My car started blinking with headlights, horn waking the entire block and a lot of other fenomenas allthough shut off and key out. Try taking out all fuses (map them on a sheet of paper) and enter some compressed air at short range into each and every fusecontact.
(Just in case ...if you have a towinghook with a connector...do the same with these contacts)
