2002 gmc sierra truck won't start replaced filter

My truck will start run a couple of miles then stop. we replaced the filter because we thought trash was getting in the fuel line but it still has the same problem Same with my 2003 sierra. I will strt it and almost the first time I slow down, the engine just shuts off. It doesn't sputter. All the electrical stuff is still on but no check engine light.

Should I thr an octane booster? We just recently moved to a place where the octane is lower. Or maybe change the fuel pump or filter?

Thank you I will check it out. I appreciate the help! I will update when I get it fixed.

Hey, My question was somehow added in with someone's my vehicle is the second half of the question. Anyhow, I changed the air filter and that did the trick. We were recently on a dirt road trip and it must've been clogged. Thanks!

Both vehicles?I would suspect bad fuel, water contaminated possibly?

  • Anonymous Jul 10, 2008

Hopefully it isnt water in the tank.Drygas is an additive you put in the tank, and it absorbs water, but if you got gas at a station and they had water in their underground tanks.......thats what i am getting at.

2000 gmc Sierra starts but stalls

Check the fuel pressure while its running. It sounds like the fuel filter is stopping up. Fuel filter should be changed every 50 thousand miles or so. If the filter is bad it won't be long until the fuel pump has to be replaced (located inside the fuel tank)! It's a lot easier to replace the filter before the pump is damaged!

2002 gmc Sierra 6.6 turbo diesel won't start, has a black and blue wire just under the fuel filter thats been ripped off and can't find where it' should connect to.

wires broke under fuel filter is the water in fuel sensor.need to replace water in fuel sensor install new fuel filter pump the primer located on top fuel filter 30 times until stiff then try to start truck.the water fuel sensor got damaged became loose leak out fuel in fuel filter causing hard start problems, diesel engine wont start if air in fuel system or air filter stopped up.

1997 gmc sierra 3500 won't start

When you turn the ignition to start, do you hear the starter turning and the solenoid engaging the flywheel ? test your starter by jumping it and see if the engine turns over. If this works, then you might consider in checking fuel pressure. Do you have any codes in your ECM ?
