I have a BMW 528i 1997. Last night, the battery light came on, followed by the traction control light, then the ABS, and finally the brake light. It went on for a few minutes then the dashboard started flicking/blinking then everything went out. The car ran for a little while with all the lights off. I parked it and tried to start it. It started a couple of time and would do the same thing after a few minutes. The car finally wont even start. Does anyone know what the problem could be? you can email responses and comments to [email protected]

I had a BMW 540i 2000 and that happen to me, my advice is to get the battery out of the car and recharge it. It would be advisable to have it check for malfunctioning. If it is ok, put it back on and the car will start. If not good, put a new battery, the car will start and all the lights will work in order.

Probably you could loos your radio set up and clock set up if you took too much time in the replacement of the battery, don't worry, reset the clock and the radio stations.

Traction control night and brake light on 2008 trailblazer

First, check to see if your ABS and your TCS fuses are good. A lot of times, if both lights come on, it senses a failure in the braking system. Your vehicle will disable the abs if it finds a problem in the braking system, hence the red brake light/hand brake light coming on in the dash. Get a code scanner that also reads the abs module. You could have a bad wheel sensor, which is tied to your TCS and your ABS system. Either that, or you ABS module could be bad.

Traction control and anti-locks(ABS) lights come on.

Traction control and anti-locks(ABS) lights come on there is sensors that are pluged in behind the rotors check and see if they are disconected or loose sometimes when you change your brake pads they might come loose and not making contact.

I have 1998 bmw 528i, the problem is when the ASC light come on, the automatic transmission won't go into gear. and this only happen in low gears

Check to see if your brake pads and rotors are in good condition. Or if you have replaced the pads yourself and have not reset the wheel sensors this would cause the ABS Antilock Brake System light and the ASC Automatic Stability Control light to stay on as the ASC uses the ABS brakes with computer assistance to control the traction of the car if not fixed it can affect your rev limiter and slow performance

Dcs and abs light staying on

car is sensing a problem with the stability control system (DSC) or the antilock brake system (ABS). usually an ABS problem will turn off the DSC, so DSC may be ok, just ABS needs a look at.

since its an '08 model, it should still be covered by the BMW warranty provided you live in the USA. take it in and have them fix it. not safe driving with both systems deactivated.

Transmission Traction "Off" light stays lit with Traction button

The traction control system is controlled through the Anti-lock brake system. The way it works is if one of your wheels starts spinning the ABS applys the brake to that wheel to transfer power to the oppsite wheel that is getting traction. If your ABS is bad then your Traction control won't work. To check it I would find a parking lot on a wet day. In an open space mash in the gas. if you hear the ABS system kick in and you don't squall the tires then your good. My guess is you won't. What I would be worried about is will my ABS work. When checking the traction control is a good time to check the ABS. Acclerate to around 15 mph, then mash the brake as your live depended on it. If you hear a motor run and feel a vibration or grind in the brake peddal, then it works.
